Thanks for sharing the pics. One of these days I'm going to that show. Your new coop is going to be great! How many more garden sheds do you have that you can convert? I'm working on getting my garage away from DH.

AND standing up a barn, maybe in a couple of weeks - then I'd have all of my layers under one roof which would be so nice. I'm wondering how many birds that barn will hold.

It is the very first post for the SC thread from 2009. I often wonder who Enola is as I haven't seen her post here since I've been here. I wonder how many chickens she has now and if she ever got that new pup.

I see this occasionally when I come to this section from the main forum page. This morning, I started reading the first page of the S.C. Pages. What fun! This may be my spare time reading, if I have any, since it will be pretty cool to read some of the other's first posts on here. Of course, this weekend has been so busy up til now, I am not sure what spare time is. The girls did get their nest boxes back in their coop yesterday. We will see if they will realize they aren't for sleeping on top of and pooping in this time!

So my eggs in my incubator are doing great!

I think last time I had the temperature a bit too low. Everything seems to be growing veins at day 6, but for the overly "poreis" looking eggs. I noticed those never seem to develop.

Did some cleaning in the garage for my bantams. They were out of water when I cleaned out their cages. Made for a good opportunity to worm them and get a few shots of the multitude of colors!

Enola lives down near Greenwood. She has been up to my place a few times and got a few chickens from me. She bought one of my nicest Araucana roos to help her with her olive egg project. She is still on BYC but works full time and her boyfriend had some medical issues for a long while so she was dealing with him. Enola is a very nice person if anyone should get the chance to meet her. She sure loves her animals! I don't think she gets as much time to come visit here on the SC thread since she works so much.

Cute, cute, cute!!!
You definitely need those d'Anvers to add to your flock! They are small! They take up very little room! And if they are anything like the d'Uccles and Booted Bantams they are really sweet!

Oh Joy, that would be great for you to get the garage and get that barn going! You need the extra room so you can expand!

I am just encouraging you to get more birds, aren't I?

Actually, you could move a lot of them around and always have space for new chickies and have a little hospital ward and more brooders and lots and lots of new things could happen. So much fun!

I actually met enola almost 2 weeks ago...she checked me and mom out in the garden center of Laurens Walmart and we were chicken talkin...she got involved...I told her about BYC...she says shes been on there but doesnt have a home puter right now...I look at her name tag which says NOLA and ask is that her user name and she says no,,Im enola on there!! I rolled laughing because I have read sooo much of her posts...she still needs Arucanas though...the rumpless birds...said everyone wants too much for eggs or birds and she just cant pay that...super great to talk to her!! I look for her when I am in there now...thinking a chicken Fairy needs to visit her!!! She want ones that lay blue eggs not green....says she has plenty of those!! Prob thanks to AMY!! LOL

Oh and Pink...I do this ALLL the time

Yeah, the Araucanas can sell pretty high. I get about $70 a hen for my lesser quality girls; no tuffs and wrong leg color.
They are a difficult breed to keep going and so many folks don't know what they are and the ones that do know do not want to pay the price for them so I seldom hatch from them anymore.
They do lay a beautiful blue egg, which is how we got into them. DH loves the colored eggs as much as I do. They have a great temperament and my last remaining roo has the most gorgeous crow of any roo I have ever heard. He is my 3rd generation from my own breeding flocks and though I could have sold this last flock, I haven't and probably won't. I would miss them too much.

Glad you met Enola! She is nice, isn't she?

Maybe one day I can get a couple eggs and pass them through the chicken fairy...when I first met her I thought she was harsh on the price of birds...I have spent good money on a few of mine but I know what I can get out of them...but then I saw what she was talking about on price and sometimes you love a breed but just dont have that kind of money...I havent spent THAT much on a bird!!!

I just saw where a doz choc orph project eggs went for $426....I have the wrong color orphs!!!

And watch her see all this and bust us! HEHE...she was neat to meet...I am just not a fan of no tail...lol
