Are your guineas still laying...in October? Mine are done for the season.

Actually, they just started. I was surprised they started this late. They don't seem to have any clue about laying, it seems the eggs just fall out, wherever. I find them in strange places. Our guineas range out during the day, but they go to the house to sleep.

Oh yeah, I told in a post on here about Mabry Dairy. I gave their name, directions and price of milk back when I started supplying them with eggs so I mentioned the name of the Dairy. You must have missed that post.

They sell their milk for $4 gallon.

I cut a hole out of the front of the jug so they can stick their head in and drink. I keep the handle on so I can use it.

Well, I don't have any silkie x polish birds but if the crest holds true to polish it looks like a hen to me. The hens have very neat crests with wider feathers. The roos have messier crests with longer, thinner feathers.

ccw2005, thought of you this morning while I was collecting eggs!

I sure as heck dont wanna see the chicken that laid the egg in middle of all those small ones!

Actually, thanks for the picture! I see the freckles on the eggs and do think that a few of my girls are recalibrating their ink jet settings!

My Araucana's are now laying more and I think that the freckled one I have is from one of them. Funny, my Araucana's are sitting on the eggs and my Buff and Astraulorp pop em out and are back in the run within minutes. I always thought Buffs tended to be more broody.

Thanks again!

My Araucanas can be broody girls but usually only once a year. My buff Orgingtons, if this is the breed you are talking about, have not ever been very broody. Out of my 6 girls only one has gone broody in all the years I have owned them.

Ha! Ha! The orange egg is from a Pumpkin Halsey!

Yep, I guess I missed that post. I think my chickens would turn that jug over. And I would worry about baby chicks drowning in it. I have had some really strange accidents here.

Mine never turn it over unless it is low. They can't turn it over when it is half full.
For chicks I cut the hole down lower.
And for chick feeders I cut several holes in them, one on each side. You can also cut the op off and turn it upside down in the jug with the holes and it funnels the chick feed down. Works great in brooders.

I do not care much for Facebook but DD knows a bit about it and so many of my friends ask me to join them there so I figured I would give it a whorl. I really do not have time for it all but so far some high school friends have found me and we are getting reacquainted.

Glad you found me! I found Jackie. Or rather, DD did. Now we are looking for Kimberly!
