Well, I don't have any silkie x polish birds but if the crest holds true to polish it looks like a hen to me. The hens have very neat crests with wider feathers. The roos have messier crests with longer, thinner feathers.

The bird pictured is a pure frizzle polish. (Not one of the mixes) The breeder said she thinks its a hen.

Oooohhhh....I've never had a frizzle polish (yet). BEAUTIFUL!! I love the polish and I love the frizzles. My guess is still hen. You'll have to let us know when you get eggs (or a cockadoodledoo).

That's so exciting Mary!!! I'm having a hatching fit myself. I bought myself an early Christmas present - I'm waiting on 2 dozen silkie eggs from Bobbi Porto to arrive. I CANNOT wait, I'm so excited! Like you, I got tired of being disappointed and feeling like I was wasting my money. I have high expectations for these eggs.

I wish you could share the name of the person who did Mary wrong with the auction. I have been buying some eggs from the auction also. It would be great to know who to watch out for.

Hey Amy, the second batch of Cowboy eggs started hatching today. I think there were 11 eggs to start with....saw 4 chicks and 1 egg today, the rest were tucked safely beneath 1 of the 2 broodies sharing the nest. No idea what is going on with the rest of them.

The other 5 chicks (5 of 6 eggs hatched, the last tried and failed and I was out of town and couldnt help it) are doing fine and dandy too

They look awesome, Janelle! I think yours are going to be fabulous.

The first ones that hatched here are still thriving in that pen (I know you shudder at that!), the color is still great on them and I have 2 boys and 2 girls with each being a blue Mottled and Black Mottled. I can't wait to get them all grown up and see the beauty they will provide me!
The blue Mottled roo will go over Frizzle hens at some point. I do not know what to do with the black Mottled roo but his type is very nice. Naturally! Cowboy is throwing his type even on hens I was not planning on using! So glad I let him breed these girls and hatch his eggs while I had him.

Cowgirl is in a pitiful molt. I am super excited to see her get it back together and then hatch from her and Dan. I put Dan in with those light colored hens and Cowboy's chicks, as well as Cowgirl. Dan doesn't have the color that Cowboy has but he has the type so maybe those light colors will give me some cuties. Just what I need.....more chickens!

Do I see only one blue Mottled in the bunch? The rest look black, don't they?

They are so stinking cute. <3 My husband took one look at the frizzle polish and gives me this strange glare and shakes his head side to side and walks away. LOLOLOL

No, they are all blue. Looks dark on pix but definitely blue...some darker, some lighter.

There were 7 new chicks under the other broodies this morning, plus 1 dead chick and 3 eggs. 1 egg is pipped, 2 eggs not.....we'll see what happpens by end of day. Same there, some really light blues and some dark blues. That gives me a nice even dozen of chicks from Cowboy and my best 2 black mottled hens. Can't wait to grow them out!

All my outside mottled hens are molting BAD. Ruined my plans cause I was going to sell the type culls at the show this weekend.....but who knows which is which right now! Lol. Bet Cowgirl will look better after her molt too!
