That's so exciting Mary!!! I'm having a hatching fit myself. I bought myself an early Christmas present - I'm waiting on 2 dozen silkie eggs from Bobbi Porto to arrive. I CANNOT wait, I'm so excited! Like you, I got tired of being disappointed and feeling like I was wasting my money. I have high expectations for these eggs.

I have some silkies from her. Very pretty! You can always get eggs from me too if hers don't work out. *Most* of my silkies are still laying.

Happy day! The offer on our house fell through and it was very disappointing. Even though it had only been on the market a few weeks, I still really wanted that to go through! Never know when another one will come along. But one did! We got an offer on Sunday ( a week after the first one fell through) and we just went under contract with a closing date of 12/12. Hopefully the appraisal, inspection and all that will be okay. I'm so excited! Full-time farm life.... here I come!!!!

We bought a few chicken tractors from a lady that makes them around here. Pretty good price for a smallish one. I put three lavender silkie hens and a buff roo in one and two buff hens and a lav roo in the other. Hope to get some porcelain chicks. I have a GORGEOUS porcelain pullet and a kind of nice porcelain cockeral but I need more.

Also, apparently I'm going to be breeding grays. They are popping out of somewhere and are so pretty. I have some that look like true grays and some that are more white with a black tail and wing tips. I've been told by several people that they are grays. I think they look Columbian though. So if anyone needs some in the spring, let me know! I do have a bunch of approx 6-8 week old silkies available in black, blue, partridge, white and lavender if anyone is looking.

Susanne you should see the silkies I purchased from you. They are so pretty. My soon to be daughter-in-law named one snookie. I guess with the puff on its head it might like her look , without the spray tan of course.

Well my DD and I are feeling a great deal better today!! She is chasing the cat around the house right now and obviously has a lot more energy! The poor cat!

Moved my BC Marans chicks out to an outside brooder this morning and cleaned the biggest empty kennel/pen for the coral blue guineas. Maybe tomorrow morning I will get the guineas moved....

Ok, for those of you that feed sunflower seeds, at what quanity/% do you feed? I assume you do not put a big pan in the pen. Just mix a few in the birds feed? The shells are alright?

Emptynester--how is that house rooster doing? I am loving our d'Uccles and I have actually seen my DH open the coop and take one out and hold it and talk to it!! I need to get a picture!

Well, after months of lurking and planning I finally got my first chicks. I ordered from Ideal: 1 of each Blue cochin, Welsummer, Dark brahma, Cuckoo Maran, Barred Plymouth Rock, Red sexlink, Gold Laced Wyandotte, and Americauna. I ordered 5 Cornish X. Receive the call from the post office at 3am this morning(not sure if they were expecting me to jump out of bed). I received 10 packing peanuts. Since I live in a neighborhood I didn't really plan on having roosters and certainly not 10. I guess I will deal with that when it comes. My son has requested a frizzle and a polish so in a couple months I will be trying to find these, hopefully from one of you guys on here. Here are the chicks in their new home.
