So I got some head shots of the d'Uccles and was wondering what you think????

Thinking Roo,Hoping Hen But fencing riding ?.....U? it's the second largest...Chick2

Thinking Pullet on both and they are the smallest of the all four. U?

They are the cutest, and as you see they like to roost on the rim of the nursery...when the wire top is off!!!..and then they like to run around the house (limited i must add)

It's really hard to tell when they're this tiny but I would guess that #1 and #4 are roos. Just a guess, but from the pic (which doesn't always look true on the computer) #4's comb is a bit bigger than #3. Very cute babies.

My guess (And do realize I am not good at this, but learning)
#1 is a roo and I'll be nice...the other 3 could be pullets!

But that big old area for a comb to grow in on that first pic makes me highly doubt it could be a hen.

what do ya;ll do if you buy eggs to hatch and none of them are fertilized? are they replaced with new eggs or are you just out the money you paid?

on a happy note.. iam now getting 9 eggs a day still not everyone but their getting there..

hope ya;ll are having a great week..

I am constantly checking the fertility on my breeder eggs. If they don't sell, I hatch them myself. I also break open a few and check that way. So the eggs I sell should never be all infertile. There can still be a clear egg every now and again but it should never be more than the odd one. I've only had 2 people complain about receiving eggs that didn't hatch. One person claimed all but 1 were infertile - but he only bought 6 bantam eggs and they were shipped to Washington state. I sent 8 eggs and he had 1 chick hatch. He admitted being new to using the incubator. Anyway, I offered to ship the same amount of eggs back to him for only the cost of shipping if he wanted to try again. I made the same offer to the 2nd person even though her eggs were all fertile, she just had a bad hatch rate (lots of dead in shell chicks). I don't consider that my fault but I try to keep the customers happy. I have found that some just don't want to be happy - no matter what you offer. I do not refund money and I make that clear on my auctions. I can't afford to do that as there are some very dishonest people out there that would take advantage. I've also spent a lot of money to really reputable people and received eggs that none hatched. That is disappointing but you never know what those eggs go through before they get here. I have about a 50% success rate with shipped eggs. Some do really well and some don't do well at all. But I've also bought eggs locally that I didn't have any luck hatching either. Hatching is a gamble. That's why it's so exciting when it finally works and you get lots of babies.

Pink, I am not sure really what I would do except I think I do not want to order eggs to hatch...I think I can find what I may want close enough to drive...just my thought right now but I am still a young chick here (not in real life...HAHA) We share some things though since I have been into chickens...the first was our Polish. You got a trio and I got the other couple left from the same person...yours layed well before mine. You got some Amauracaunas and I did too and yours lay and I am still waiting and looking!!! LOL I get 4 eggs a day from others and know where to find 2 and always search for the other 2 from my free roaming game chickens...another HAHAHA! My Polish quit laying about a couple weeks ago but I have 6 of those growing in the incubator...wish me luck!...and I have 6 Golden Comet eggs in at the same time that "should" be fertile but are not growing/developing??? These are from my few own chickens. I did go in together with my DD the other week and we visited a great lady from this forum and had a marvelous time with her and came away with some hatching eggs. They did not do/hatch as well as we (being new) thought they would...but thinking about the weather and all the other things (molting and such) that play into all this at this time I think everything went well. I don't know when or where you got your suspected unfertile eggs from but I can say my 6 Comet eggs were not from a hen that "Just" started laying...and I witnessed weeks of a Roo mating before I collected for the incubator...this is a sketchy time so I would just "throw a grain of salt" in with your thoughts on getting infertile eggs right now. I have seen many posts though where if you go back to where you purchased your eggs mostly they try to make it "right"!!! Good luck and I hope to visit you one of these days to see your place and PLEASE visit me too! I can use all the inspiration and recommendations anyone can offer!
