I wonder if it is just someone new to silkies and are still learning or something.

These are a couple of quotes from her. May be new to silkies. I did not take her up on her offer since I did not want to add any more money to this.

"we’ve been raising poultry for over 50 years"

"I know my Buffs came from a guy who shows and he bought his breeders at Nationals 2 years ago. I did take them out of the buff pen a week ago after I found a really nice red rooster to put on them. So if you would like to try to hatch some of the buffs I will be happy to send you 6 free you just pay shipping."

Yeah. Learning. Just because DH has had chickens most all of his life & he is younger than 40 - does not mean he knows silkies - he will admit he knows nothing about them.

Why would she put a buff and red together? That just does not sound right. Red is a project color also - Buff already has standards for it. Personally, I don't have buffs cause I would be aggravated trying to get smut out of the tail...and have a nice clear color.

If you are going to experiment with mixing varieties, then sell them as such, not as pure colors.

Some people make me wanna

Just wanted to provide an update of what I'm dealing with these days....
I sold just about half of my chickens, suffered a cat attack but then the cat suffered a "FarmerJohn" attack

, my broody BO hatched out 5 of her neighboring BR eggs. we got 1 roo, 4 pullets out of those and will keep the girls to breed back to their daddy. Chicken incest is so wierd, but line breeding works!

Umm, I've raised up a WhLghrn roo to breed back to the girls, one of which is his mama, but she's over 2 yrs old so we may not have her much longer...I will miss her XXL eggs

I'm out of all my Jap/Coturnix quail...they've all sold or have been dinner

I may start that project over with some Bobwhites. I've had many, many ppl ask me to raise those. Last but most definitely not least, we are continuing our breeding, improving, and promoting our Delawares.

He is so handsome even when molting. I am so glad I have a few sons from him and I have his sister, thank you so much!

I do see more blue kids in the photo this time around. It is how the light hits them. So adorable and I know they will be awesome with those ladies. I need to hang onto some of my really nice girls so I can have more to offer in the future but I know you will do a good job of breeding and showing. Those are some super nice kids there and I hope you have a lot of "keepers" in the bunch. But you know where to send the extras!

I do not know when you are ever going to get time to scrub down that coop. You work all the time and you have a show this Sat. Busy, busy woman! But you have always been a very busy person. On occasion though I have seen you in a chair with a drink. Though rare, you must take breaks when the chance comes along!

I'll miss seeing you at the show this weekend but I understand when you have one closer, you must go where it is.

I love Catdance's birds. I had one hatch from her eggs - but they were in the bator one of the times the power went out -thanks to that company deciding to upgrade equipment- and I did not know the surge protector did not kick back on when the power did. Unfortunately, I lost that one as a month old chick ....

How pretty!
However, I always feel sorry for mine and have to cut the fluff away from the eyes so they do not look as attractive. My old lady Fancy is so used to it now after all these years she just stands still and lets me trim away. The young ones can be a pain til they get used to it. Thank goodness it is only about twice a year.
Oh, to be able to let them have their big poofy heads! Just so lovely to look at!

I think you have 2 and 2. First looks roo, second look pully, the last photo the one on the left looks pully while the one on the right looks more roo. Could easily be wrong as you know d'Uccles are new to me this year. Do they have any lines around their eyes? Some MF do if wheaten based and I can tell from that.

Hi John,

So sorry I didn't get to meet you and the pretty mama to be at the Chickenstock. My heart was set on coming, and all I can say if life happens sometimes, especially if you have older teens!
