Yeah. Learning. Just because DH has had chickens most all of his life & he is younger than 40 - does not mean he knows silkies - he will admit he knows nothing about them.

Why would she put a buff and red together? That just does not sound right. Red is a project color also - Buff already has standards for it. Personally, I don't have buffs cause I would be aggravated trying to get smut out of the tail...and have a nice clear color.

If you are going to experiment with mixing varieties, then sell them as such, not as pure colors.

Hello my SC peeps! I haven't checked in with you guys/gals in a long while seems like. My, my ya'll are a chatty bunch

Just wanted to provide an update of what I'm dealing with these days....
I sold just about half of my chickens, suffered a cat attack but then the cat suffered a "FarmerJohn" attack

, my broody BO hatched out 5 of her neighboring BR eggs. we got 1 roo, 4 pullets out of those and will keep the girls to breed back to their daddy. Chicken incest is so wierd, but line breeding works!

Umm, I've raised up a WhLghrn roo to breed back to the girls, one of which is his mama, but she's over 2 yrs old so we may not have her much longer...I will miss her XXL eggs

I'm out of all my Jap/Coturnix quail...they've all sold or have been dinner

I may start that project over with some Bobwhites. I've had many, many ppl ask me to raise those. Last but most definitely not least, we are continuing our breeding, improving, and promoting our Delawares.

I do see more blue kids in the photo this time around. It is how the light hits them. So adorable and I know they will be awesome with those ladies. I need to hang onto some of my really nice girls so I can have more to offer in the future but I know you will do a good job of breeding and showing. Those are some super nice kids there and I hope you have a lot of "keepers" in the bunch. But you know where to send the extras!

I do not know when you are ever going to get time to scrub down that coop. You work all the time and you have a show this Sat. Busy, busy woman! But you have always been a very busy person. On occasion though I have seen you in a chair with a drink. Though rare, you must take breaks when the chance comes along!

I'll miss seeing you at the show this weekend but I understand when you have one closer, you must go where it is.
