For me - it's my inlaws AND my own family! I swear that I was switched at birth. My own Mother thinks I'm crazy and just cannot understand the whole animal thing (especially pets in the house). Nevermind her opinion of having hundreds of chickens. And now we're talking about adding a horse....I worry she'll send the men in white coats to get me. When I told her I was going to homeschool my son she immediately explained to me why I couldn't because with all my animals in the house DSS would surely take my children away from me. You know DSS visits everyone who homeschools and apparently there is a law against having animals in the house.

I saw this very length post this morning talking about a transaction gone bad... But it was at 6:45 this morning when I was reading this and was still to sleepy to care.. So I got ready for work and forgot all about it til. This post and figured it out. That's all I know but it did seem like a lot of dirty laundry being aired out.

I raise marans but I don't show my birds. I don't raise them for show, I breed what I like. Some of my birds have been show quality but sometimes the pet quality birds are my favorite. The whole show circuit would take the fun out of it for me.

Me too...Me too! I love my "pet" quality chickens AND "mutt" chickens...up to twenty now and some in the incubator (thanks to DixieBeast!) and STILL only get 2 eggs a day...4 if I can find them...LMAO

I totally understand. I loved the cute little raccoon that lived here for years and ate cat food. It was even ok when she stole some eggs because she was feeding her babies. But when my favorite Serama hen (Sally) disappeared and then the other hen was attacked and left with only one leg and then another baby was pulled to pieces thru the chicken wire ... I changed my mind.

Yep..that's when WE have to step up and become the mix of mother hen and daddy roo combined! I love love love nature and critters and all God makes...BUT when I take animals in to be "mine" as God sees fit...then SORRY! I have to protect what is "mine"... And I do first try to discourage and encourage to move on...BUT also I am not a very patient person...so....I try hard to win - Humans seem to be the top predator! How ironic is that?
