That is my fave way to shop.............buy it online shipped to me in a box and all I gotta do is hide the box...the wrap the boxes!

Me too - I hardly ever shop at the mall. Hate the crowds. And this year Amazon has some things that are cheaper than Toys R Us. Santa's gonna be happy!

I have an auto payment now so maybe nothing for anyone here........

does not bother me too much - I did have an expensive surprise in mind for DD but, looks like that won't happen. Only people that we buy for is DH's Dad, DD, and DH.
I get myself something too usually LOL

I cook and feed my family....if I can I give a little money to my nieces and nephew. Otherwise, food is enough...we are all together and getting along and that is what counts

ETA: no one on my side of the family is under 14 yrs old. We are getting to old to do anything besides eat LOL

Wow, that sounds so simple. Christmas has always been a BIG thing with my family. My Dad spends weeks putting out lights and decorations. He started 2 weeks ago and he will have them on for Thanksgiving. He puts out 200,000+ lights. DH has a big family and my cousins, aunts, uncles etc. still all get together for my Grandma. I've actually cut my Christmas list in half this year and I still shop for 20+ people. My son also has a birthday dec 12 so I shop for that too of course. I usually start shopping in June but this year there just wasn't much money to shop with so I'm running late. And my 7 year old would be most disappointed if Santa forgot him. It's stressful but fun.

Persimmon tree predicted a snowy winter!

I dont have to bait...we have oaks, and too many deer drinking out of my pool in daylight...I was just telling why people sell them... walmart sells deer corn all hunting season so its ok to sell but not use!!LOL

I was giving money making ideas!!

Baiting is only illegal in northern SC. We can still bait down here. Why the difference I do not know but baiting is very legal down in this parts. They can even bait across the border in GA now.

Cute!!

Now what I would do

1 - either pin up or trim her crest. She is in a new place and can't see much with that crest so that may be part of why she is not moving.
2 - go ahead and remove the roost. Silkies prefer the ground. That may be why she is not moving ...
3 - Check her for mites and lice. Treat if needed.
4 - treat for worms if you dont know when she was treated last

ETA: I cant see her feet good and cant tell a lot from pics but she is a cute white silkie
smile.png

Good advice all around. Silkies generally do not roost. When I have one stuck in one place, like just at the fence, it usually means they can't see. Just trim her bangs a bit. She looks decent quality except her feet but who cares? Nice! Is she your only silkie? I can't remember. If so, you should get a few more for her and I know just the place.

Nicole, my DD, can pick up a bird and tell if it is a rooster or not by the way it does when she holds it. She carries adult roosters around and they are so calm and fall asleep in her hands

If you don't have the ivermectin on hand,,,, the sevin should be fine.

Susanne......what do you use?

For regular stuff, Ivermectin pour on. Just a few drops... usually three for silkies. Sevin dust for in between but not on the crest.

I did try using the Ivermectin injectible in water for my chicks (3 weeks and up). I only did it for one day because I saw red blood in the shavings the next day and it scared me. But nothing happened and it took care of the mites. Much easier than having to put drops on everyone! I may try it with my grown birds.

She walks on her ankles with her feet curled in. I just put a photo of her on my West Knoll Facebook. But anyhow, I am not sure she has ever tried to get on anything until the barn roof. I was surprised because she never even flew up on top of the trampoline. I didn't even see her tonight but I had customers, the horses got out when the storm this afternoon blew a tree down over the back fence, it poured rain most of the afternoon and made it difficult to feed and collect eggs. What a day!
My buff dundotte was out of the trampoline though when I went to look for Cryp. She probably went into the coops with the other Guineas but I will certainly be looking for her in the morning. It just gets dark way too quick now.

Can your girl curl her toes at all to hold on?

Yes, I guess she must be able too. I will have to look closer, but she got out yesterday through the chicken pen(they go under the fence) and is out sleeping in a tree with some of the other guineas right now. We have been keeping them penned because they like my DH's new porch he is working on....

The heavy, sudden rains worry me here with the kennel. I have to make sure I have enough peak to the tarp on top--we collapsed a kennel here early this year with our dog in it. It even shocked DH!

I would love some pictures or directions on how ya'll do the tarps and tops on kennels...I have one 10x10x6 I scored for my ameracaunas and it has collapsed and broke one side top rail right in half at the same time...all I could do is "crawl" in and slit the tarp...since I am wicked with weapons I slit it so much that the rain goes thru now...but floods the coop/run...thanks for some pointers!

DH put a really big piece of pipe in the middle and worked some other conduit pipe over it. It is enough of a bow to shed water though one corner get rain and I have to push it out -- which I am sure I will have to do today. I bet your could do it with PVC pipe which would be lighter--DH just used what we had on hand. We have roofing tin on a couple of the kennels that works good and one tarp I have a 2 x 4 holding it up in the center so it sheds water--works very well and there is enough pressure on the board that it will not fall. I use pretty much what ever I can that works to get a pitch in the tarps after the dogs kennel collapsed.

My kennels just have plastic netting to keep out hawks. I don't really worry about weather. But they do have small coops in them for protection. I mostly use the kennels for the run part. They can go in the coop if it's raining.

Now I did not think of water. I did catch mine one time and give a drop in the beak.

You decided they needed food and wather while in the bator? That sounds like something I have done.....the food part anyway.

Chicks are fine up to 2-3 days in the incubator without either. I know my broodies hatch chicks and it is 2-3 days before they eat or drink.

They were looking at me sad and screaming! And they were already at 2 days old and they were pecking each other in the eye! Lol! My motherly instinct that is deep within me said...Feed da babies!
