Yep, that is a barred bantam wyandotte. They are the sweetest. I sure hope it's a hen. I have crele and barred bantam wyandottes. They are the best mothers, very sweet birds. I'm glad it hatched for you Heidi, hope you love them as much as I do.

Will it be a cuckoo colored wyandotte? It is very pretty and a lot quieter than the silkies. It just snuggles up to the silkie chicks and falls a sleep.

Yes, it will be barred. You are right, Lisa, head spot means barring gene.

I did not know this! How fun! Another new breed of chicky!

Did I mention that I just love chickens in general!!

I think Pink had a good idea - just drive up to Charlotte for the day, then back that evening. Of course I love to drive most times, and do a LOT of it (I just never get anywhere fun or interesting lol).

Maybe by next year you could host it at the farm!

If it were only that easy! Then we would miss the sing-a-long that will be going all night. I'm not kidding. It will work out. We're taking my mother-in-law with us and she wants to stay until Saturday. Next year it's at my farm!

Oh Suzanne - Bless your heart.

I feel your pain. DH's family used to do the sing-a-long EVERY Christmas, it's pure torture. Seriously....torture. We never have time for all that since we have 3 family parties all on Christmas Eve and we're rushed to get everywhere with everything. And to sit thru that and also sometimes the "reading" of the Christmas story.

I sit there thinking of all the things I need to be doing and time seems to STOP.

While we are talking about barred birds--does anyone on here raise Dominiques? Or know someone that does or know anything about the breed? They look like an interesting and beautiful breed!

Aren't the barred & cuckoo basically the same?

AMYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Nicole decided this morning she is not going to Clemson with us.

She wants to go spend the night with my Mom & to Asheville with her Saturday. It is their thing that they do together when they both can/feel like it/want to lol

That's okay, Kimberly. We will just have to have fun without her.

More room in the car for chickies that Jackie is planning on buying!

Jackie is chomping at the bit wanting to know what time we are picking her up. Let me know.
It is a fairly straight shot to get to Clemson from your house, to my house to her house and then on from there.
