That's ridiculous. Hope they take it off. But it is a compliment!

Yikes! Do your dogs bark all night? Mine bark a lot at night and last night, they were howling. Not sure what that means, but they are very busy at night. And then they sleep all day. That fox needs to stay away!

So no update yet on my chicken disaster-ness. Going to give clemson extension a call today.

My chickens stopped laying again. I think this might go back to the whole illness situation. I had them free ranging for 2 1/2 weeks and am feeding fish food. Had 3 hens start laying. 2 of which have never laid before. Well, they were confined to their coop for a few days and the laying dropped and I haven;t seen eggs for about a week now. 0_o

My hubby says that there must be something gross in the coop that declines their health. Argh!

BUT...I have good news! I HAZ BABY DUCKIES!!!!

Got them locally. One is a Swedish Blue. The other is a Muscovy mix I think. :D

Quote: Do the Frenchies show early like the Boston Terriers used to?
We used to have to be ringside by 8 am, which was fine since we lived so close. But driving to some other shows would make us have to get up early. We were often happy to see a 2 pm ring time but that most often seemed to be on Sundays when we would be driving back from a show.
And towards the end of our showing days we would groan if we took Breed and had to stay for Group. That is when we knew we needed to stop. But it was fun for quite a while. We made some awesome friends. Probably should get back to a show and see who is still hanging in there. It has been about 15 years so probably a lot of new faces.

Ok guys and gals...I must have more info on the newnan show...ASAP!! PLEASE!!

I am still trying to catch up so forgive me if you have found this info already. there should be a thread over on the Chickenstock section and there should be some info on the APA website and maybe a website for the hosting club. I haven't looked so I am not sure but that is where I woudl start.

Oh, geez! Newnan is a pretty big affair. You will come home with a car load of gorgeous birds and sooooo broke! OMG, though, it is well worth it!

We got a game camera for Christmas and we're just learning how to operate it. I thought I'd share this picture so you can all see what I'm up against here. I've got lots of photos of raccoons, squirrels and even a stray cat but this guy gave me the heeby jeebys. He's coming up everyday, sometimes in the dark, and he's just scoping out my yard. This is behind my peafowl yard, 3' off the dog fence where I keep the muscovy ducks, turkeys and my breeder chickens (marans etc.) and my 14 year old dogs.

Here's a night shot of a raccoon. We think there are 3 and they are out there all night long, every night.

Neat! Okay, not neat about the creatures but neat about the camera. You are catching a lot of critters on camera. Now rig a shotgun to it so when it snaps the photo it shoots the varmint! Bingo!

It must make a noise because the Coyote is looking right at the camera!

I wonder what the raccoon is looking at?
With all your land and woods around your place they really love coming up close.

I am so glad Jolie takes care of most everything here. I am still finding dead possums and raccoons in the woods so it must be an endless stream. You would think they would learn! The foxes certainly stay away now but the deer and turkey are still brave enough to venture into the pasture if Jolie is on the other side of the property. My neighbor drives a truck and leaves in the middle of the night a lot of times. He says he sees deer in my pasture in the front but also sees coyotes crossing the road a few hundred yards down our road when he leaves out.

I still fell last night, on my knees. The mud is just not going to dry up even with all the warm temps.
And did you hear? We are in for more rain tomorrow night and Friday? I guess I will get cleats or something! I am slip sliding around, especially in the shade where the sun seldom reaches to help dry out the ground.
I love this sunshine! My skin is soaking up the vitamins! Wish I could get enough dry ground to work on finishing those duck coops. Breeding season is almost upon us!

How cute is that???!!! Baby ducklies always make me want to kiss them all over their cute duckly faces and talk baby talk! And to think I keep reading how ducks do not have fertile eggs in the winter. Humph! Tell these sweeties and the eggs we ate the other night for supper. Those were sure fertile!

Your Muscovy mix won;t give you fertile eggs at all because they are mules but they are still awesome ducks. I think I have a mule. Herman hates her, she has no caruncling to speak of and she may be a he......I still love the chocolate cutie though.

My blue Swedish turned chocolate but started out blue. Francis lays a fabulous egg every day and when she hatched was the biggest duckling I have ever hatched out and stayed huge forever so I thought for sure it was going to be a boy but nope, she is a normal sized girl now, just the wrong color.

Congrats on the babies! I know you will enjoy them so very much. I love all 40+ of mine! Can't wait to get my breeding pens put together and hatches started! I have a lot of Runners to hatch out for me and Nicole!
