No casualties here either. I am amazed as I felt as if I was going to die out in that mess yesterday. Much less the few birds I had to leave in tractors. Baby chicks are still doing great running around outside with mama hen.

I'm sitting in the garage crying over my loyal companion, Max. I found him in the back yard having seizures a few hours ago. I gave him Aspirin and Ativan, per my mothers instructions. The seizures start to pass, then return. My heart breaks for him bc I know he is uncomfortable. I don't know what else I can do?!?!?! I'm so mad, frustrated, and sad at the same time!!! Please pray he pulls through. I know there are we vets open, but that's not an option for us :(

All you can do that I know of - is just what our vet had us do with our Aussie....make sure they can't hurt themselves and soothe them until it passes.

That is the hardest thing - I was soooooooooo helpless. She went blind before the seizures so I could only speak to her and put my hands on her to help her through it.

The offensive stuff is usually hilarious...I just cannot comment or like because I teach school part time and my page can and may be checked...I am very carefull!!

Some stuff I share is loaded with curse words. I don't even block it from my family. The regular church goers & easily offended that I know, also know to ignore some of my sense of humor and my rants.

Update:
Max is about 5. Male. Boxer.
Fenced in back yard. Nothing to get into.
Yes he peed on me twice.
First seizure.
i took him to the vet. They agreed he was having a seizure. I have no clue how long he was like that b4 I found him. I witnessed him like that for 2+ hours b4 deciding to take him in. Dr Carslile said he wasn't running a fever, which was good. Also said the cold weather prob kept him from getting too hot. They gave him something to stop the seizures, and he went to sleep. He's resting and getting iv fluids. Will access him in the am. Leaning towards epilepsy, since there are no signs of injury, and nothing for him to get in to. Just hoping he has a speedy recovery, as I am all cried out. I've already decided that if he isn't better in the am, I'm gonna say good bye. I don't want him to suffer

Hope you didnt mind the offer...and I asked about the pee because I have seen bladder blockage cause the same...Did not realize your mom worked for the vet! That is a great thing!! Our pets are like family and it is a horrible feeling to not be able to help...There have been many tears here in the past and I feel great sympathy for you and Max

I'm glad you were able to take him to the vet. I'm sure he's in good hands. Those meds can be miracle workers. I hope everything works out for the best and that he's doing great in the morning. I know our dogs are literally like our children. The first time my lab had a seizure I about lost it. She had a couple more after the initial one so we started her on Potassium Bromide. She's only had 1 seizure since then and it's been probably about a year or so. I'll be thinking about you and your sweet pup!
