I can be witchy at times. OK a lot of times. A couple of years ago (before the dog attack last spring) ANOTHER neighbor had a dog to get loose and attack a couple of our goats. Bottle Fed babies! They did not answer the door the first day. Second day the lady came over to see how bad damage was, the third day I went to let her know she was responsible and I wanted to know who her homeowner's insurance was with, so my animals could be replaced. I have no idea why that scared the lady, but she did reimburse me for the stuff I had to buy to treat the goat who did survive that attack. Broken jaw, etc...lots of issues to deal with, we finally lost her though and I cannot remember now what happened - complications from that or another dog....I would have to check with DD. I just never bothered to tell the lady it died because I did not want the hassle.

It helps to remind people that poultry is LIVESTOCK. Just like cattle are. They would be have to reimburse if it was larger livestock. Same with small poultry.

Ummmm.....if that was witchy then I wonder what I was the other day.

I had two different neighbors dogs down here in my yard, chasing my cats and my ducks. One phone call to find out who the first dog belonged to and then a visit up the street. It took 3 days for the neighbors to get an invisible fence up and get the dog behind it. They didn't kill any of my birds but I made it very clear that if they did, I would be reimbursed for the cost of my hens which start at $15 each and go up depending on breed. The cats are pets, hard to put a dollar figure on that as it would break my sons heart. Most of my neighbors are great, and I was very diplomatic. Apparently I got my point across that I don't play when it comes to my animals. And my farm is a business and a loss in income hurts. I did explain that it takes 9 months to get those birds up and laying and chicken feed costs $15 a bag now and "you have no idea how many bags a bird can eat before they start to pay their own way".

In other words, it's much cheaper to buy a fence and keep your stupid dog at home. If those dogs had killed my birds, the least they would've done is pay me for my birds. And if she'd smiled at me while I was telling her that....oh that makes me so mad just thinking about it. Dang, the lady I was talking to was crying when I left. And I really was nice! My children were there with me, never raised my voice or used any bad language but I guess I got my point across. I wish I was closer, I'd come talk to your neighbor for you. (I know I've quoted the wrong post, so not Kimberly cause she doesn't need my help but Trixiebarracuda).

ok So Here is my FB statue:

Dear Mr/Mrs.Orange Tabby Cat, Yes I saw you stalking my hens today...Well Just a FYI, my 16lbs Rooster was stalking you and he can fight.
Oh and PS-If you do cross the fence & if you get pass the Blue Rooster, You will not get pass the Blue Dog...I wish you the best in your adventures.
It will be a Clemson vs. USC match fo sure(the dog will be there just to make sure We win) ;-)

Here's the rest of the story.... Well yes I saw the cat and it really is kind of small maybe 5-6lbs(ish) if that big. Well the hens were not in any means scared of the Giant Beast..it just ran the fence trying to scare the hens.....BUT..... (oh i have leland cypresses outlining my property) SO.... the Rooster was in the lelands looking at the cat and down right stalking it...til he finally came RUNNING out of the greenery at the cat and doing the Hawk Yell at the Cat

, well kitten(ish) cat, it TOOK off like a fast wind. There is a Chain Link fence surrounding my property but the poor cat must not realize that....I'm actually worried the cat will cross the fence while the dogs are out and.....the neighborhood kids are playing in their backyard(which this cat does not belong to them)..Still Don't want kids to see any action happen...

OK so all my VENTING about my rooster is null and void (thanks Amy for letting me vent)... He's a Great Rooster but he just doesn't like me.... i

That will be easy. I know we will be somewhere near the Frenchies, but I will walk up that way and look for you since I know Randy will be talking someone's ear off.

Sounds like a really great rooster! I would love him too...Cute story and I can just picture it in my mind while reading!...but if he is after you also...maybe he needs an attitude adjustment? If that doesn't work then well.....

Gosh, i log off for half the day and i miss soooo much!

Tractor supply is a good idea. Do you know what brands they typically sell. And do you know when they usually get there chickens in.

From what i understand Tractor Supply just gets a straight run mix, but there is usually someone there who knows what the breeds look like or you can do your own research and go and pick them out. Otherwise you could always roadtrip to any number of the farms on here to get your Chickens. Everyone is really friendly.
