I would love to set up a hive but I have no idea what Im doing.. do you or anyone you know ever put up hives on other peoples property and still own the hive so that you can harvest the honey?
I have occasionally done that. It really has to be within 5 miles (not more than 10) of my home to be economical. Most people that set up hives usually put 10-20 hives per location. The average time spent per hive is 40 hrs per year so that makes for a lot of trips and time for just one hive.
10-20 hives per location results in less time per hive. Hope that makes sense, my brain is sleepy.

Find someone in your area that keeps bees and volunteer to help them if they will mentor you.
When you start asking around, you may be surprised at how many people are beekeepers.
You will soon be ready to set up your own hive and enjoy your own honey.
