Kimberly Buy lots of birds at Susanne's place and don't drool too much over her coops. I can't wait to see the coops and her silkies. Maybe soon.

Lauren Hope your girl is improving this morning.

Patsy and Samantha Have fun on the road trip.

You girls who are heading out to pick up birds and visit, have fun.

Lauren, I hope to hear good news from you today that your hen is much better.

Have a great day everyone. Dont forget to pop in and say hello, its been to quiet here.

We're going to put them in an empty chicken run this afternoon with a bowl of lamb replacer and see if that will work. They were trying to graze yesterday. That would be awesome if they take to it! Might be a little earlier since they're only 5 days old but we'll see.

Susanne, dont know if it will hold true for the lambs, but I had to feed one of my foals milk replacer. mom just didnt have enough. I was so surprised that he actually sucked it up from a bowl. I used the rubber bowl. SO it was so easy to feed him. He to this day looks for me and calls especially if it is close to feeding time. So may be worth a try.

I did start with a smaller diameter bowl so the milk was a little deeper, made it easer for him to get the hang of it. Once he was slurping, it didnt matter what bowl I used.

just a thought.

My five little turkeys are doing well. It's only day 2 and their wing feathers are already growing in! I'm headed to a nap. Getting up with the lambs in the middle of the night is tiring! And I have to get ready for Kimberly.

our foal started day 2. we did not know about it day 1. it was way easier and feeding went from a frustrating 15 minute hastle to a one minute pleasure. but he still tried to pusht the bowl around with his head.

When I checked on the d'Anver hen this morning she seemed to be ok. It was still kind of dark so I shined a flashlight in the little coop area. She looked at me like "whatttt do you want shining a flashlight at me this early???" Hopefully she'll still be doing well when I get home. Luckily I'm off this weekend and can keep an eye on her. I love those little buggers so I really hope she does ok!!

WHen we fed him the milk replacer in the begining, we held the bowl for him. I didnt start to leave it on the floor until he was older, at least 3 weeks old. The time it took him to slurp up the bowl was really nothing. I thnk the first couple of times it was longer, maybe 5 - 10 min max. He learned so fast after a couple of days it was just a quick way to feed him So dont be frustrated at first, but I dont think leaving it on the floor will get them to start. Once they understand the bowl is food, then putting it on the floor will work.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will give you my cell phone.

Lauren, I sure hope you find her doing really good this afternoon. Please let us know.

I had a blast...I tried to not be soo chatty but it is soo hard...your silkies really make me rethink the fact I don't "do" silkies!! They are soo pretty! They are definatly what I would want if I do decide to add silkies here!!
Just had a nice visit with "chatty" Samantha and Patsy. I just LOVE my poultry friends.

Nothing better than spending the morning with ppl whom love silkies as much as I.
