I think I finally found my hens I needed!! Thanks to everyone who sent me tips!! One tip led to another to another and I finally found some! It will be a long drive this weekend but it will be very worth it!!

Welcome Desmo. Tell us a little about you and your flock.

Sam, how exciting! Amazing how networking can help you find what you are looking for. I have been sending out all kinds of email, and still looking, I am sure the right one will come along, unless I start to like the feather feet :) Then I would need to change my plan.

I really was hoping I wouldn't have to make this post. I lost my little d'Anver girl this morning. She put up a tough fight but her little body just gave up. I went down to check her this morning as I always do just praying she'd be ok. She wasn't gone yet, but very close. I wrapped her up in a little blanket and took her with me to work (luckily I work at an animal hospital). She passed on the way there. Breaks my heart. I cried like a baby and felt so silly for it. I know that losing some is a part of having animals...but these little bantys are my all time favorites. I just love them. I had named her Mary. What absolutely KILLS me is that upon VERY close observation, she still had mites around her comb/head. That's when I really started crying. I had treated her 2 times for mites and had been keeping a close eye on her. I guess it makes me feel responsible for her not making it. Those stupid things were so freakin tiny and apparently very good at hiding. I'd been checking her all over every day. They were nowhere but her head. I guess you live and learn. I'll miss that little girl. The pair left seem completely healthy. They've always looked better as far as their comb color than her. Makes me think maybe she'd had something going on for a while and it just finally got the best of her. Sorry this post is so long...just had to vent. Needless to say, my day got started off on the wrong foot...

I am glad the other 2 are doing well.

Sam I know you are lookng and trying for me, I just want you to know how much I appreciate it. One of us must be successful.

I think I am going to go to the Winston Salem show, I need to write that date down. I understand the D'Anver breeders are in the OH area. All those dog show I did up that way, but the Dobe Natonals are basically in Cincinatti, but not until Oct. MAybe I can make a connecton there and add something then too.

I love these little birds, too. I lost a roo last fall and felt so badly. I never could find out anything that was wrong with him.
I am so sorry you lost her!
