If you have a broody hen that has chicks, do you feed them all chick food? or how do you seperate the feeds?

I fed mine all chick food..has higher protein and I thought the hen could use a boost! LOL...but I am such a newbie...they somehow survive me! LOL Anyway...after 2 weeks I took the chicks and housed them in brooder and turned the hen back out to the freerange flock where she came from (I had penned her up away from the others after she went to setting steady)...so she went back on layer then like the others.

I am setting here this morning listening to Dorkings hatch out! Reds and Coloreds. What a sweet sound!

I emailed about the Pyrs, too. Told them I was totally fenced in, have vaccination records on my other dogs and was a poultry farm since they said in the ad they had been around chickens. Haven't heard from them either so I figure they placed them.

Debra brought her new Golden Retriever puppy out the other day when she came to pick up ducklings and Jolie absolutely loved him! He was fantastic around the chickens, ignored them for the most part and loved playing with Roxy. She got him to live in her goat pasture. Debra has a Great Pyr/Golden Ret. cross that she says is great with the farm animals. I got to thinking....hummmmm.....
