Very nice use of common materials. Is your coop permanently sited? Id like to do something like this for a mobile tractor type shelter.

I would think you could do the same thing, but have a female hose connector on the tractor, instead of permanently connecting to a water source. Then you could move it where ever you want with a garden hose attached.

well you can find me all day ( 8am-4pm ) in pauline / west springs at the forklift shop. and yes the cathcarts live behind me..so you can drop your eggs off there if you want.. I'll take a " travel box " with me to work if you want.

When you said you lived across from midway I was wondering if you were the same person whom worked at the forklift place....Have I seen a goat in your driveway or at your mail box?

And thanks for the offer to hatch my eggs, but I was able to sell them. Can u PM me your contact info for use at a later date? I see you have no shortage of incubators!!!

Moonchild: That is a good idea. I guess great minds think alike because I had the idea of moving my incubator earlier today. Right now it's sitting on my bar that separates my kitchen from my living room (pretty central location).. It's away from all direct sunlight and drafts though.. I'm thinking of moving it into my back room though.. Only issue I think we may have in that room is that it's usually the coolest room in the house.. Do you think the A.C. temp would effect the temp in the incubator? or is that a stupid question??

Yeah the A/C really doesn't matter, if its constant and the same temp. Yeah the Kitchen changes temp way to often and way to fast.(Atleast mine does) Cause I have the same kinda place and I tried my bator there and one min it was 99.9 then 101.0 then 89.0 then two hours later it was 110.0...all in two days I moved it to the back bedroom and it did stay at a great temp of 98.4(was the lowest it ever got) and 101.8 was the highest...I checked it over two days and ALL times of the day/night just to check...then I added eggs and kept checking it all the times. I did add water to keep the humidity at 30ish. I have had two great hatches from this great little bator OH and I never added a fan either. The only reason I'm not HATCHING HATCHING HATCHING is because I had a hard time finding chicks homes cause they are mostly mutt chickens and nobody really wanted...so in the future if I have to hatch more to my flock I WILL!!! I loved IT!!!!!!

Here is a picture from early this evening. This little one is named Trooper. Not sure how we will keep up with who he is, but we will find a way. I love how cute they are when they dry out and get fuzzy.

Well I moved the incubator last night shortly after the post. I had it running (empty) all night long to see if I could get the temp and humidy to regulate. The temp and humidity stayed constant overnight, but the humidity was a little high. So I got my DH to fiddle with it today while I was working to see if he could get it to stay constant and at a reasonable temp and humidity. Thankfully, when I got home this evening from work he had it set up and ready to go (Yay).. I guess moving my incubator to my back room was an awesome idea because now I have a great steady temp and reasonable humidity.. So I watched it for about 3 hours to make sure it was definitely constant, and then set my eggs. Here goes attempt #2.. I just know this hatch is going to be so much better than the last.. I'm crossing my fingers and praying.. I'll update as the hatch progresses..

Robert Leigh 864-429-9019 no I don't have a shortage . and I can make another " fishabator " in about 20 min. I already have everything in an empty box just need to put it together. and I have another pic of the fishabator I need to post and goto bed
and yes. but after tomorrow you won;t see them anymore.
the last two goats I have are going to have to goto the sale tomorrow night in tooter town.
I need the fencing for the birds lol

Was thinking the same thing. To prevent spillage, would likely use a top on the bucket, since tractors move around. And how about algae growth... is
that ever a problem?

We have four babies this morning!!! I am going by on my way to work to snap a couple of pics. If I can figure out the the app I have on my iPhone, I will post them this morning sometime. If not, I will as soon as I get off at 2:00 ( and will see how many more we have!).
