Oh. this is too funny not to share,
I just got called into the living room,
it seems with the door wide open bringing in some of that great fresh upstate air , I have a Barred rock that decided to come in. perch on top of the cabinet Incubator and started watching TV.
Poor Kim in there Hollering " Fire,, Robert, get in here"
seems she was trying to say " **** fire " but was too stunned by the chicken looking at her.
I think she was looking to lay her first egg and was trying to cut out all the handling and put it straight into the incubator.

About to head over to Lou Ann's and do whatever I can think of to keep the four week old babies and their mamma, the 10 week old girls, and the 1 year olds cool today. They are in three separate areas at least until Maranda gets tired of her babies and we combine them with the 10 week olds.
I have some sand to put down in the shade and try to keep wet and cool. For the babies, I have some of Lou Ann's gallon size planters and a rubber maid tub that I will turn on their sides and put some shavings and frozen bottles in. Hopefully they will use them. The big girls and 10 seekers get frozen bottles, shade, and little pools of ice water to play in. And everyone gets frozen peas and watermelon. We are both home all day, so they will be checked on hourly, I am sure, all runs have fans, so that will help. I need to put some new pics up soon and see what everyone thinks we have. I am hoping three girls and 1 boy for the Marans, but the blue is questionable. The Orps babies, I have one girl, I know. Keep cool today!

Ever thought about just turning on a yard sprinkler. you know the ones like you used to play in as a child? I found my chickens are no different then I was at their ages.
