Hi everyone. As usual, I haven't been on this website in months. Boy, there's been almost 1,000 new pages since I last posted on here

. I've gotten several new critters since then, including two Pekins who have grown to be beautiful drakes, which leads me to why I'm posting on here. One of the drakes sounds perfectly normal, with his warbly male duck-talk, but the other appears to be mute. He attempts to talk to the other one, but at best all that comes out is a whispery hoarse noise. He simply can't make a sound louder than a whisper. As a duckling, he cheeped like the other one, but from about the time they've gotten their feathers to now he hasn't made a sound similar to the other drake. Is this common, or is he just an anomaly? Other than his voice, he seems perfectly normal. I was just wondering if anybody has had a mute pekin before. Or if it's normal sometimes and i'm just an inexperienced duck owner!

I haven't even candled the eggs. I haven't had time yet. With about 300 eggs running all the time I seldom candle anymore. I do good to keep water in the tray. Usually I hear peeping and open the door to see the chicks, ducks or keets riding the lift (turners)! LOL

And you would love to fill my bator, would you??? Who is over run with keets? Beautiful, adorable keets!

Female ducks quack, male ducks squeak or whisper.
What makes you think you have 2 boys?

Wanna sell some Wyandotte eggies!!?? And does one have a curl in his tail and one not??

Ever thought about just turning on a yard sprinkler. you know the ones like you used to play in as a child? I found my chickens are no different then I was at their ages.

I have got to find my sprinkler! I forgot about using that. The ducks love it when I put it on in the barnyard. Unfortunately, everyone wants part of the action. Even Guineas love the sprinkler!

Yes, amazing I am still up this time of the night but Leah is washing eggs and I am putting them in cartons. Got an early pick up in the morning.

Both of them have very obvious tail curls., and sometimes try to mount chickens or each other. And I've never heard an actual quack from them. The one that does vocalize does a gurgly low muttering almost constantly.

How did I know that Kris was going to say that??? ROTFL

I must say that Robert has always been on his best behavior when I am around him. As many ways as I can mess up sentences, I am sure he could make some really funny stuff out of them. I think we enjoy chicken, Guinea and turkey talk too much.

Have you had time to do anything else to the new coop, Robert? I really would like to see what you come up with when you finish it.

And speaking of turkey lurkeys.......they were very PO'd that I did not put them back in the brooder room at dark. My little babies.....
Yes, it is a messy brooder but I have the same problem as you guys and the other birds get on it and make deposits. What a mess. I have to cover it with boards when I put babies in there.

Oh!!!! I believe each and every one is a boy!! Terry went down to look at them last night and they displayed for him! I did not know they woudl do that at this age??? OMG! IT was unreal to see the tucked head, dropped wings and fanned little butt feathers. Every one of them did it, too.

Two boys and one is more dominant. Some of my drakes do not have much of a voice.

Need Pekin eggs? I have 5 girls and one drake in a breeding pen.
I am about to add another girl soon. She is getting big enough.
I have 2 that are going in the freezer. One is crippled and the other is blind. The blind one actually gets around quite well but she isn't very big and I do not need small egg layers.
