There is a Facebook group that my wife goes to frequently that is called Sioux Falls Chicken Tenders. People from all over the region post on it. That is where we found a home for an unwanted rooster. It is many times more active than the South Dakota section here.

Thanks for inviting me, @ronott1 ! @Mrs. K is the only other South Dakotan I know of on BYC. I haunt the Surviving Minnesota thread, though.

Cool! DH grew up in Valley Springs, a short walk through the corn to MN. I was born in Rapid City, grew up in central FL. We live in the central Black Hills, now.

I went to the Black Hills! it is a very cool place!!

I am getting tired of my starlight green egger, but he's always trying to sneak attack me. He's not purebred, but I was responding because I would like a nicer one too.
Good luck finding one! I almost had a Jubilee Orpington but I'm not sure if I'd be ready for 2 so I just canceled that order.

I just have mutts.

Lieutenant is a mutt rooster. He is fine with me and the grandkids. But lately he has been running a favorite hen of mine. I have enough clutter in the run that she can stay out of his sight, and eat and drink for the most part. But he chases her a lot.

Thing is, his Dad had a bird that he did the same thing too. Just thinking that maybe he needs to go. Roosters are crap shoot.
