Proudly announcing my 1 day old OEGB chick from my BB Red pair! I am so proud, excited, nervous... its like having my first child again!!! I have a feeling its going to be a LONGGGGG weekend. I'll be jumping at every peep! I put in TWO thermometers in this brooder (can't trust just one, even though I've never even put one in my brooders before this) as well as a feather duster, and a water bowl full of marbles, so baby won't fall in. I'm totally paranoid, and happy at the same time!!

LOL, Jacob gave me a "buddy" (banty cochin X), 'cause my other egg didn't hatch...yet.

I started with 5 eggs from two different pairs, but 3 weren't any good after 2 weeks.

i have about 6 eggs pip'ing right now in the incubator... 42 eggs made it to lock down... woo hoo... baby chicks are awesome... and OEGB are entertaining to watch in brooders... they play fight from 2 days old... LOL... never seen any other chicks do that before... it doesn't fail... they're also brats and get into trouble... i have replaced my CFL bulbs a couple of times because they will jump and break them... they're crazy...
