yeah, earlier i was talking to my sister about it... but right now animal planet showed the episode of fatal attractions where that man got killed by the pet bull... now she's like, it's gonna attack one of the kids...

sigh...

but then again my sister is afraid of the chickens and ducks... but i'm really going to try to get a cow... that's gonna be the ultimate pet i think... i just have to get a job first so i can feed it... LOL...

LOL... i have been thinking of getting a Mini cow and training it to be an Ox. FWIW an Ox is a steer (neutered bull) that is over four years old. They are very strong and can be used for pulling wagons and dragging wood and stuff and if trained right very sweet.

oh wow... i had no clue... i don't know anything about farms and livestock... i know some stuff... but not all...

see that's the thing... i would want a girl cow... name her bono... or skipper... OMG i'll name her bubbles...

after watching that show, maybe a bull is too much for me to handle... but then again, how much damage can they cause...? the kids don't go all the way to the back yard... also, are mini cows temperamental like bigger cows...? i don't want it to hurt a dog one day...

Even a Mini cow weighs around 700 lbs. http://www.dextercattle.org/ Prices also run about 2000-4000 dollars each or more.

If you are serious and not joking about it read up get involved with a farming group volunteer there to learn. I would rather face a bull than an angry Cow. I deal with horses that run 2000 LBS on the light side they can knock you over pretty quick. Cows are much much stronger.

well, i'll stick with my asian ground parrots for right now... LOL... but as soon as i can, i will get me a miniature cow... i'm gonna keep my eyes open for one... oh, and i think i'll take your advice, but there aren't a lot of farms in my area... i'm in los angeles... probably gonna have to go to sue's (froggiesheins) stable and stare at her horse... LOL... i don't want to say on here what i think of horses...

i'm really looking forward to this meet...

LA should have areas that have cows. You might contact the 4H as a start to find the closest place to learn. The highway from LA to Norco is lined with feedlots and cattle ranches.
Where you can find beef for sale you can track down the ranch....
http://www.eatwild.com/products/california.html

Double check the zoning it can get tricky in Residential areas. Laws that allow chickens, will not allow Goats, but you can have fainting goats. Laws wont allow pigs but they will allow pot belly pigs. I doubt they would allow a cow in the city.

good luck

my municipals clearly state, no roosters, only two hens, and no horses, sheep, pigs, goats, and cows...

that's why i asked if i could hide them in the back yard... LOL... i know this lady with a goat... she's had him for years... but i think he died... had to be like over 15 years old already...

LOL ehemm um you could keep him at MY house bwahahaha.... How do you feel about owning an Ox. I am only half serious here. 'Sides Im a couple hundred miles away. Gawd is it 3AM
Yep I'm looking forward to the meetup too.

Conan Is a Bull, He is broke to ride and extreamly gentle. He was bred by a man named ralph sowers in redding Ca, his prices are extreamly reasonable and his animals are superrior in temperament. I take CONAN to the lakeside western days parade, i took him to the Boo parade in san diego, he goes to the Julian $th of july parade, super mellow fellow. But yes some cattle are down right dangerous, i never drop my total guard when handeling any large livestock animal. I will however drop the guard with my seramas!!

I will definitely try to make it! Sounds like fun, plus I am looking to get a couple more laying hens- anyone have speckled sussex they are bringing? Because I want some! Also interested in silver laced wyandottes...
