Southern CA Swap meet-up / Funday!

Sue I am interested in this little hen u have. Possibly next meet? Unfortunately the leg is the same. I retaped it after 3 weeks of having the original tape and it hasn't improved. I have kept her isolated since the perch in the main coop is about 5' high and I am afraid of her hurting her other leg trying to get up or down. Im thinking its gonna be like this for good

. She is in good spirits despite hopping on one leg. I spoil her with worms more than the others so she has a happy tummy. Im currently redoing my coop to accommodate my pigeons so they have more room but stay separated from the chickens. I will post some before/after pictures when done.

UGH! I finally figured out what was wrong with my lavs that I have out back. After vet visits and different meds all it came down to was ventilation. Ive been dealing with them for about 3 months now. I couldnt figure out what was going on as it wasnt contagious and noone else had a problem. When I first brought them outside I put them into the the smallest part of the coop they seemed fine but 2 days later they had itchy red eyes.

That was the only symptom. No smelly, leaky nostrils.

All were alert and running around scratching and whatnot. Not contagious. It was driving me insane. CRAZY. I was about to slaughter them all. I had a tarp over my coop for the rainy days we had a little while back and I never took it off. THATS IT. Took it off and all better.

A dear friend in Ohio was talking to me today about mold and ventilation and it clicked. Why didnt I think about it.

Geez I spent so much money on these birds and for their health bills (for lack of a better word).

Moral of the story. Make sure you have proper ventilation. Simple and easy. It will avoid all the heartache. Trust me I know.

Well illustrated post ! And of course you will never forget this one very important rule and it will make a difference to all who read it.
BTW the little silkiexmarans chicks that I got form you in Norco a fitting in just fine with the other five chicks that they decided to join lickty split. I was really suprised how those two abandoned their own quarters to jump in with the others and the fact that no adjustment period was needed.

Flower:
Thats wonderful that they are doing great. Thats hilarious they escaped. Figured it be more fun elsewhere.

Their brothers and sisters are so naughty.
Hopefully my experience can help someone else so they do not have to go through what I did.

Will:
You def know what I went through. I cried. Its been a long journey. HAHA.
