Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I just battened down the chickens. The babies decided this was the morning they wanted to venture forth from the run with the big girls. But now the wind and rain have started, so all five took their tail feathers back in. I changed all the bedding, put the nest boxes back where they belong, moved the baby roost into the roosting area and even put out a pie pan full of scratch with mealworms. Everyone's locked in. The heat bulb is on a long extension cord so I don't have to even go out to the coop to put it on.

The snowblower's due in a couple of hours, bread's rising in the oven and I have about a month's worth of paperwork to do. Sounds ideal right? One problem - I have to head out to do a Will signing at 1pm. *sigh*

Hi, all. I'm at work, still sick, and not very chatty. Looking outside and not liking what I see.
Just wanting this day to end, so I can go squeeze chickies, and clean up the messes from the week.
I took the cages out of the car, but still have wood chips, and that funky smell in the back.
Yummy. Hope everyone is well this weekend.

Roberta, sorry you're still sick. I wish you lived closer. I just made soup and the house smells great. Bread failure, though. It's always so touch and go. That's why I bake it so often. Still chasing that perfect loaf.

I'm heading out in the rain in a few minutes. Yuck.

Lucky you to have chickies at home. My girls are all bonded with the Gladys and Agatha now. Totally not interested in me anymore.

We went out for breakfast and as we were coming down the street I said to Bobby, "Wouldn't it be nice if the snowblower came just as we pulled up?" We got out of the car, walked into the house and the truck pulled up. So now we're not tied to the house anymore. Coz it's such a beautiful day to go out!

The beginning of the hammering has begun. We have three inches on the ground and it is slippery out there. No salt trucks no plows yet. The lights have been blinking and we may lose power at any time. This is going to be a bad one. Might get up to twenty inches by the time it is over.

Glad to see you still have rain on the island. Maybe you can dodge the bullet. I am not too sure how we are going to fair. The big trees over the coop are worrying me.

Just heard a plow! At least they are doing something now for all the taxes we pay.

Stay safe everybody.

Roberta, we just had to drive my son's fiancé home because she was afraid to drive and my son had to go into work. The roads up here are horrendous. It just all went downhill In a hurry. Trees ares napped and down already. The girls are in their run and the tree over the coop is hanging down and the branch may snap at an point. This is insane!

Stay safe and hunkered down. Did you get home from work yet?
