Good news, barring any natural disasters Richard is going to the AVMA meeting in Chicago in mid July. They have a half day of lectures scheduled on backyard flocks.hopefully he gets something useful out of them.im going to call dr. Stroute out at the duck lab to see if she knows the vet giving the lectures. If nothing else he'll bring home the proceedings.

Queenchick, good catch on the swiss chard! The d'Anvers chicks eat the leaf-hoppers, slugs, and other garden insects.

Oh, I am so terribly sorry! You have my deepest compassion. Speckled Sussex are such a sweet, dear, friendly breed. Rest well and fly free, sweet Sophia! Can you fence your yard in so the dog cannot get the hens?

If I can catch him, he's sweet! All the cochins do seem like very calm chicks. They are being co-raised by my two Australorp hens. The hens keep them away from me, except when I bring treats. I keep holding this little one primarily because it's so darn cute! Here are two more pics. I can't get over his "pants and house slippers"!!!!
