Hmmm ... what rules in the Town Of Islip? When I called to get the rules on chickens last year, they told me there were no restrictions ... Has something changed?

Hello; When I was researching it ;it was 6 hens no roo, they have to be in the back yard(a fence between the front and back) and they have to be quite between the hours of 11pm and 7 am And believe me my girls are partyers so this is a challenge. What a joke;my neibors are absolute animals at times. When I when to but day olds in Riverhead last May the woman told me it was 15 and no rooster so what do you believe??? I know 3 people within several blocks from my house that totally ignore these rules. Carol

This website has information listed by town. I think it's called chicken LORE - Local Ordinance and Rules E----? Here in Huntington we're allowed 8 hens, no roos. There's a guy down the block who has a LOT of chickens, and roos, and goats (yes, goats). Don't know how he keeps that under wraps??
