Those silly chicks,
up to their old tricks!

Always running late,
making mommy wait.

Finally they arrive
1, 2, 3, 4…where’s 5?

Hope he’s in the book,
let’s go take a look.

Is he under that tree,
what do you see?

Behind the old gate?
Wouldn’t that be great!

Maybe he’s in the barn,
Not there either - darn!

We sure better hurry,
I’m starting to worry!

Bet he’s in the shed!
I think I see his head!

Seems we were wrong,
he was here all along.

Asleep in the cozy nest,
who ever would have guessed!

I think they're terrific! Doesn't matter which one precisely you submit, give the editor something to do, lol. Love the rhyming - somehow that makes it easier to get through when you're reading it for the third or fourth time.
