Hee hee, agreed. Could you at least make sure the insertion device isn't ice cold too?

As much as the guys are cringing over Brutus's surgery, the girls are cringing over this! In fact, I'm guessing everyone has their legs crossed right now...

I'm a mom too.  But my first thought was "Where's your shotgun?"  I guess that's why my kid repels off parking garages and runs into burning buildings.  Listen to Heather!

Ok well full disclosure, when I was 16, I was slamming around in mosh pits giving myself concussions and future hearing loss. I followed this up by playing rugby for 6yrs and rock climbing. So this is a "do as I say, not as I did" thing. :p. I would just hate for you or your family to get hurt. Make sure you get good advice from the best hunters you know, yeah?

Also, about the video you posted: it was seeing footage like that when I was 19 that convinced me to become a vegetarian. It's what makes me refuse to buy chicken nuggets, what compels me to raise my own produce and teach my children about our responsibility to the environment. Keep feeling, keep learning and keep educating. :)

Roberta,
Some of the eggs you gave me have OE written
on them. Does that mean Olive Egger ? Cause
most eggs say ORP. Just curious.
Um, I didn't write it....and really didn't notice. Will ask Beth (the gal I got the eggs from)
But don't you think the egg would be dark green if it were from an OE?
I thought it was a 3.
Now I have to look at mine.

I go upstate for one day and I come home to 100 posts.I love it .

I love that baby and her future home.

Rabies has been moving further north at lightning speeds.I feel terrible that you are going through such worry and stress.I can't believe you can't get more help from any infectious disease people. To me from your first description it doesn't sound like the fox was rabid. It didn't attempt to attack you it sipmly tried to get away. Are any of the chickens that were attacked with open wounds still alive. Possibly they could test them ASAP. Unfortunately unless they test another way. It would have to be sent to Albany. I'll call Cornell this morning maybe I can get you some answers. Unfortunatetly I think it is going to come down to your decision.

For the first time in 3 years since I got my chickens I forgot to lock them in for the night. How scary is that. Also woke up this morning to a broken dish washer. My husband called yesterday as I was heading home to find out where I was 'cause his car wouldn't start and he needed to get to work. We live across the street from a small service station. He would not walk over to ask for a jump instead he walked to the train station and I was left to handle it when I got home. The note on the table read:
1 Go see Mitchy (guy across the street)
2. Call Volvoville
3. Call AAA to have it towed if you can't get the above to help you.

And I love you to; thanks for your help. I added this part.

Turns out I had my own car problem that I didn't tell him about. I've been driving around with a car that was suppose to be inspected 2 months ago. Should I leave him a note this morning?????
Sorry to be ranting.

Back to chicken bis; I'm going to Brimfield Wed. and there is a woman about 30 minutes away that had Salmon Favs for sale (cheap) last week. Going to see if they are still available. Think I'll bring home 2. Also have be talking to a woman with outrageous NN's that I might be getting eggs from. AND SO IT BEGINS AGAIN FOR ME...

LOVE CAROL

Ugh sorry to hear about the dishwasher and car! You know what they say-when it rains, it pours! I had one of those days not long ago. Never ask what else, though-It's like a challenge.

Your husband takes the car for inspection? I wish mine did-that's my job, along with oil changes, any car work at all. I also do much of the yard work...lol. I need a new gig. But the old man does work almost 7 days a week, so I can't complain too much. Right now he's on medical leave, so he's around a bit more to drive me nuts. I prefer to do everything, and he not being under foot.

My little Zen is looking better. She was head tilting and looking almost dead a few days back, but the Poly vi sol seems to have helped. She's eating very well, drinking on her own, and cuddles with her sister, Karma, who's like a mother hen to her. Zen starts peeping, Karma comes running to assist. It's very sweet, but I hope she's not going to get broody on me later on!!

Today, I thought aboutf what you said. Bobby's friend, who I really like, came over to use the table saw. Bobby was showing him the coop and all the big fluffy butts were milling around. I came out of the house and he turned to me and said, "Are you out of your f*(&^ing mind?" I ignored it, and Bobby swears he was only kidding (the guy said he was "half-kidding"), but it hurt my feelings. Like only crazy people would turn their backyards into mini-farms.

I love having the chickens out there, love the fresh eggs and the baby chicks. And Bobby's gotten into it, too, so it's something we enjoy together. He likes to pretend he doesn't care, but he checks on Lavinia and laughs at the antics of the big girls too.

*sigh* I guess there will always be critics, whether you're young or old(er).
My husband told his PT about the chickens and the construction of the coop. The PT told him he used to have 3 RIR's himself until raccoons got them. My husband told him we have 9, and the guy told him we're nuts. I asked why he said that he told me he said we'd have too many eggs. (As if THAT would be a problem)

Never pay attention to the critics. My husband entire family has called me insane at different times. I have too many pets (In their opinion, which they are not afraid to share) I hardly feel 2 dogs, a cat, and a bird is too many pets (Before the chickens) but they think what they think, there's no changing their minds, and I've gotten to the point after 18 years of marriage-I just don't care any more. Those who love me, love me. They're the people that matter.

My friends think I'm cool, they're happy that my pets bring me happiness. I'm glad yours bring you happiness, and that you and your husband have found a common activity! Those who have something less than nice to say-just don't matter.

My PT thinks it's cool!

You are so right about the critics. I've always been someone people tilt their heads and look at strangely. Oh well. Drew Barrymore once said she scares people with her enthusiasm. Works for me!

At one time I had 5 dogs and 13 cats. I'll cop to that being crazy. But every one found a new home and now I just have one little froo froo dog and 2 cats. Plus the chickens. They do bring me happiness. And you're right. That's all that matters.

Thanks for the kind words.

Suze - "The ones that matter don't mind, and the ones that mind don't matter."

Keep cluckin'!
