SO-Big news! I got my husband his CHICKENS!!! Trish had some laying girls for sale and I have them here with me! Oh they are GORGEOUS!! My husband is going to be SO surprised. They're in a crate in my office, and I can't stay out of there. They're SO BEAUTIFUL. When I put them in the crate, taking them out of their carrier, they all leaned on me like "Ok, this seems good, we might like you". I gave them some water, and food, then offered them a treat-they declined. I'm guessing because it's late and they are used to being in their coop and done for the day at this time.
Lights out in there, they cuddled right up and went to sleep.

Tomorrow is their photo shoot. I'm SO happy! He's going to be thrilled, and the kids (well, the one that's awake) is totally excited to play with them in the am.

YAY!!

Oh that's great! He's going to be super happy. Are you making him steak and eggs for breakfast on Sunday?

Really cute young ladies you have there. Hoping they are all ladies for ya.
Thanks, Al. Their combs look so pink it had me a bit nervous, but the feathers scream pullet. I suppose only time will tell, but by this age my last batch of brahma roosters were showing some pretty distinctive feathering traits.

Such good news!!. I love that he wanted chickens for Father's Day. Congrats on the chickens...

Here's the backyard with its new grass. Still some patchy spots but we're working on it. With Mother Nature's help, of course. Some change from the vast wasteland, eh Heather?

I may have to use store bought eggs for any breakfast for the family on Sunday-because of the move, I expect the girls to have a settling in period, but I'm sure they will spend many happy times in the lovely nest boxes he made for them. (With May's direction and assistance of course!)

I'm wide awake at 4am. Had to check on the girls. Of course they are fine, just blinked sleepily at me, and yelled "Turn off that flashlight". (Yes, creeping around my own home with a flashlight trying not to wake critters.) I'm a little odd, but I don't hear them, so I think they went right back to sleep.
