Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Can you send a shot of Chip's back (you know, aerial style)? That way we can see if those beautiful, tolbuntesque, drapy looking feathers are pointy or rounded... I will keep thinking pullet thoughts for you, but that looks like a lot of comb and waddle for a chick without feathers on the head yet.
What a beautiful peep.
I am leaning towards the roo side......sorry to say.

Has that profile to my eyes.

Introducing little chicks with the 4-5 week
olds today. They are all outside in the play
Pen. Most of the little babies (3weeks-ish)
are hiding in a small box I put in the pen.
The older chicks are smooshed against
the side of the pen trying to get away from
the little ones. The white Cochin and SLW
(3weeks) have the rest of the pen, looking
around like what's everyone scared of.
I'll try and get some pics later when they
warm up to each other. I figured it's a good
day for it cause it's 85F out. Nobody will be
cold.

Somehow I got lucky and missed the heat wave
today. Only 88 for a high. Nice ocean breeze too.
Prolly won't be as lucky tomorrow. If it gets over
90, I'll keep the babies inside, might even bring
the 2 big girls in for the hottest part of the day.
I hope all your birds are handling the heat ok.

I count 6
Me too. And I'm a teacher.

I had all the girls out to free range for about an hour tonight. My yard is pretty cool, but the little girls were panting a lot and had droopy tail feathers, so I watered the lawn and let them all out. Which was fine until roundup time. I didn't want to leave them out til dark because we have to go out for a bit. I think having mutual free range time will help them integrate. The three groups keep moving closer together!

I got the most beautiful flowers from the group of boys I tutored for the SAT. My friend, Tracy, is the mother of one of the boys and the aunt of another. She put together this group of six kids. I know she got the flowers, and had them sent to school on a day she knew would be tough. I'm blessed to have people like that in my life!

The picture doesn't do them justice - white hydrangeas, huge lilies, and the most fragrant peonies. Just gorgeous!

My class won the grudge kickball match. And I started the elephant book. It's great so far - very engaging. It's about a woman who lives in Africa and rescues orphaned elephants. I haven't tried the hammock again, but I'm starting to look forward to being off this summer...
