Hey Vanessa! Where in Brooklyn? I am from Sheepshead Bay originally for 25 years, just moved up to Putnam County in 2004.

I am really enjoying seeing so many "local to me" people jumping on board here.

My DH was originaly from President Street in Red Hook. Came to this Island in his teens I guess.

We have many family and friends in Brooklyn.

Cobble Hill as well as Bay Ridge.......just to name a couple of places.

Got me 3 eggs today! Wow, bumper crop eh?

If I get 4 it means every bird I have gave me a present. Just what I've been waiting for.

raining today, justa drizzling, but it has been very hot lately, no rain of any amount in April or May then a little at the end of June. Now we are getting storms everyother day, the grass is perking up- which the chickens appreciate and the offset from the heat. almost 20 years down here now and I do miss the mountains, I miss the taconic parkway- lol. We lived just off the Jackson Corners exit. My sister worked at the 4 Brothers in Rhinebeck for years, introduced Jilly to it on the first visit home and she loves it, we have to stop in everytime we are back for a visit.

Brooklyn chiming in! I'm in Bensonhurst and found a chick in my yard. Turns out she's a Jersey giant and now I'm wondering if she would get along with a silkie or EE. Hi to all my neighbors! Glad to see I"m not alone.

What a thrill! I can't wait to look tomorrow. We just put in the nesting boxes a few days ago too. Guess they were just waiting for them.

I ran out and put oyster shells out already and gave them some mealworms for a treat. This is a good chicken day!
