Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Rosie, when my brother was about 9 or 10 years old, he got separated from my sister at GRAND CENTRAL STATION when they were heading to meet my Dad. My other sister and I were working in NYC at the time, so we met the police at GCS to look for him while my father took my little sister back to his apartment to wait.. Panic city!! But he knew that the streets were in order and so he started walking. Showed up at my Dad's place on the Upper West Side after an hour or so, completely fine. Yikes. I'll never forget that phone call at work!
Omg that sounds like my worst nightmare!! I'm glad he had the wherewithal to get back to your dads!!

I'm currently watching the radar map and the leading edge is about 40 miles from me. It should be here within the hour. And as long as our connection stays up I will let you know how hard it hits us.

Stay safe, everyone.

I'm an upstate New York stalker to this thread, just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the storm heading your way! It was pretty severe up here along the NY/PA border, with a tornado ripping part of a mall roof off in Elmira, NY. It swung south of my location in Central NY. Stay safe!
Thanks for the heads up!

The storm is just getting here lots of thunder, it's dark and I'm waiting for the rains to start.

Caleb, we got hammered over here (still are). Have to love living in the hills... How is it on your side of the hill?

What is that crazy circular thing on the doppler? Is it the tornado depression? I don't think i have seen a pattern like that before. Then again, I don't really keep up with a lot of what goes on around me...

That said, I wasn't aware it was going to be so bad, i don't watch tv or read papers and was not on the com all day. So, birds are out in this and i will be soon ad well so i can lock them in for the night. I hope the worst of this blows over before i have to go out there.

The storm came and it's mostly over, now. It was a strong one and the winds were high and it was very dark out. Takes about 20 minutes for the worst to pass. There are more behind this until midnight.

Cheeky Chick : Glad your son got home safe, but the coaches ought to have a phone tree for all the parents, so you can help each other in situations like today.

We had scary black, menacing skies with high winds, but not much rain in Dutchess County. Thank goodness it's leaving the area now!

Lindsey and I did another road trip today, before the storm hit. I had an opportunity to get a purebred Ragdoll cat for Lindsey, from a breeder who is retiring. This one year old kitty is just the most intelligent, sweet and loving snuggler. Her name is Willow and as I type, she is hiding under the couch due to the storm...

OH....... how beautiful Willow is! Were I to be able to have more cats I'd get myself a Ragdoll too. :) Good luck with that little beauty.

Since we're uploading puppy pictures - here's Duchess at around 4mos. She is posing next to her friend Daisy, who is a full-grown Boston Terrier for size comparison. She's getting better about the teething but we still have a ways to go in general. Check back next year, hopefully she'll be a bit more well-behaved!

Duchess is a pretty dog. Love the pic of her and the Boston in the stream. She does look large.
