I hatched out peeps last sept. at this time and the hen raised them up outside. But we had such nice mild weather. Just have to plan for the odd freezing days and damp rain you could possibly get at this time of year and be prepared for it. Mine were also seperated from the other hens and the silkie mom didn't have to worry about intrusions in her own private run/coop space till they were a good size.

Yes, the CFG was thinking, if you guys were considering buying chicks from Greenfire Farms for

$59.00 each for pullets, and $19.00 each for boys

I just may be doing everyone a service if I could get hatching eggs.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!

I'm like Carolyn, I really want blue eggs (even if they come from Ameraucanas). I was thinking of Cream Legbars because some lay blue eggs and they can be sexed as day old chicks. If we can find hatching eggs for CL's that lay blue eggs...and you are willing to hatch them....I'd be happy to buy a pullet or two from you. And I would be grateful too!

Good Morning all! What's doing today? I'm in a pickle. Literally. I'm putting up more pickles, demand is exceeding supply at this point. Who knew pickles were so popular?

I have to find pickling cucumbers in bulk.

I'm up before the family, so I'm just having my coffee, nice and quiet, and thinking about my day ahead.

Pickling starts at 7:30 after the old man and the oldest 3 leave. After that I'm figuring on pulling more stuff from the attic, to get rid of, and switch into drawers. How did my house become so cluttered and disorganized? (Couldn't have been my chicken addiction? No. Just because I can sit out there for hours and hang out with poultry means nothing.

Blue eggs sound so alluring. Of course here, ANY eggs would be a major triumph.

I made pickles for the first time yesterday. Other than scalding myself with some boiling water, it went pretty well. My farmstand friend gave me the kirbys I used. Want me to check with her to see if she can get major loads of cukes for you?

Check with Heather (imprfctme). I think she was interested in CLs.

I will finally admit, with this pickle thing...
There is a shop in Rocky Point, across from the church, next to the bread place.
