Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Thank you!
The orp I very unexpectedly bought at a farm in NJ back early sept. Hadn't planned on doing anything but visiting the breeder's p;lace.

As she was with a group of peeps all the same age/breed at about 5 weeks or so.....I grabbed her right up cause looking like a "girl" was a no-brainer compaired to the roos in the same brooder. I near tripped over myself when I realized that.
As she has grown out I am so happy to see I made a good choice.

I think I'll name her Opal now I know she is a keeper.

I think my beautiful blue orp who is 13 weeks old (and the only orp) that I hatched out with the white silkies... is likely a roo. But hry......ya never know! Maybe I'll get lucky and then have 1 each of the buff, blue and lav orp. colors.
Gee.....now how lucky would I be????

I'll have to post pics of my three orp girls: Lavinia (lavender), Lola (buff) and Beatrice (white). I've been thinking about showing Beatrice. She is gorgeous.

Met up with Rosie for a little pre-Thanksgiving retail therapy. We did some Christmas shopping. Right, that's it. Christmas shopping...

I have to check my list to see who asked for yarn.

Your birds are pretty sizanne. They made for a nice flock last I remember cause they are all different colors.

I think the whites are especially beautiful. I might have to get one myself. How many colors are there in the orps? I never loked into that........

Who am I kidding. It was all in the name of therapy, and I'm in a great mood now!

I'm getting to Michaels tomorrow-Now I'm thinking of those bees I wanna make. I need help.

Maggie,
Your birds are lovely. It's hard to tell by the pics, but you could have a pair based on the different type of crests. One looks more full and girlish and the other looks smaller and a bit swept back...like a boy. If you want to take close up pics of their heads from the front and side, I might be able to get a better idea. Beaks, combs and crests are usually different, even at a young age like yours.

Thanks Tina!
I'm agreeing with you. Tomorrow I will bring them in the house for a "photo op".
They met "face to face" with my adult white silkie (hatchery) when all running free for a bit in my yard Sunday. She just went walking up boldly....face to face with them 1 at a time and it was so interesting to watch. 1 ran away terrified.......my pullet guess....and another just simply put their head down and ignored her picking at the grass. Big Snow Cone just stared and then without even pecking the little one sauntered off. All was good.
Now to try to integrate the 3 youngins with the 8 "elders" of 3 different group ages in the coop/run area. I'll likely have 4 seperate groups hanging out together in the end then. It's all good! They co-exist eventually.

I am looking at chicks/eggs all day today on BYc.....the hatcheries etc.......
Someone tell me to cease and desist PLEASE!

Ha! I went tonight after I finished tutoring. Returned $9 worth of stuff and bought $20 more. I managed to get more of that supersoft baby grey yarn we found at Joanns. Same dye lot and everything. I want to make a sweater for Laura. I also picked up some Vanna's choice denim-colored yarn that will make a nice shawl/sweater/something. It was the funniest thing. I was reading the sale sign and it just jumped into my basket. "Look what followed me home..."

I love this time of year. I can bring in whatever I want and just say "Christmas shopping." It's the ninjaest time of year...

Morning All,
Beautiful girls Tina and Mags. Every silkie and polish I have ever hatched were Roos. Maybe the end of winter I'll try again.
My 2 naked necks and 1 RBLW are a year old tomorrow . Iwonder if they will like pumpkin pie instead of birthday cake?
I bought yarn last week to make a "bandana cowl" for Adams girlfriend. The magnetic pull to those stores is over powering.Im just too weak. My friend Susan was with me and she was also. We need therapy, just don't forget to bring your latest project with you.
Make my pumpkin pie this morning and get my turkey from the butcher.
Everyone be safe and Happy Thanksgiving
