Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I'm so sad....my lav. orp is sickly for bout 36 hours now and i'm at whits end. I'd thought it was waking up yesterday morning to the very cold temps here but she isn't making a come around since bringing her inside to warm/feed/love her up. Housed in a well bedded crate at night in a draft free no heat shed......play time in grassy pen every day and medicated feed n treats. Fresh veggies...fruit.....scratch and bedding/water. gave vet rx and any kind of treats I can offer and she is un-onterested. :(.
.No apparent disease signs and even posting in the emergency/diseases section i cant find anything yet to help diagnose her.

She is lathargic/drinks/won't eat but a smidgeon/no impacted crop/no fowl poo althpouigh oit ios watery but pof goopd color.....no tumors/no mites/loce or worms seen in her poo etc.Pale comb...empty crop. No sniffles/sneezing/weepy anything. Breathing is great. she is fairly attentive.....but ....tail down and fluffed up. Oh my..........

I have no idea.
Mags, so sorry to hear this. Maybe it's an internal parasite that you aren't seeing in the poo? Not egg bound? How about some electrolytes in her water? If she's drinking, maybe some sav-a-chick will perk her up?

All question marks because I have no experience with this. I'd try the electrolytes because that will cause the least harm. If she's drinking, it's a way to get her some nutrition to fight off whatever the problem is.

Just my uninformed two cents.

Using electrolytes now...sugar water....stewed angus beef.LOLOL..cooked veggies...the whole 9 myards.....
she's not laying yet as she isn't quite 4 months old. Just so sudden as she was acting normal as they always seem to do before the "shoe drop"s.

Darn.....she is very sweet and looking at me as of to say "ok, whats up next momma"?.

her coop mates are just. the 2 little white silkie cuties. I bring them inside the house for a little bit so she can see them and spark her up a bit.. ......as she calls for her friends and I hope they comfort her being nearby if even for a few minutes.. ugh.....all animals and people should be so spoiled.

As I have stated at times in the p[ast.... I am very fortunate to never have had health issues with my small flocks. ....so aside from operating on bumble foot....infected absesses.....splinting curled toes and dealing with splayed leg I am at a loss. ShIrT............

Maggie, when was the last time you wormed the flock?
Never roberta......reccomend something and ill order it tonight.

Wazine good?

I get only 1 egg a day right now as I give them a rest this time of year.

so I can live with it. Everyone but 3 hens (1 in molt) are all under 5 months old. 11 total coint....... 9 are youngsters

I have no idea.
Has she been treated for cocci?

Wazine will only kill roundworms. But it's a start.
Valbazen kills everything else, but my last bottle cost me $80. I can ship you a small one if you want.
Cocci is a very faceted disease, you do NOT have to have blood in the poop to be positive.
Is there a feed store by you where you can get this?
Because I have everything, and usually wind out shipping it because you just can't seem to find what you need in a hurry.
Or, get Doc's emergency kit. I have one left, or you can get it from http://www.firststatevetsupply.com/store2/emergency-care/emergency-medication.html
If it is cocci, you need to find Corid, which is Amprolium, that's the stuff in medicated feed.
Fingers crossed.

No....been on medicated feed since day 1 and I'd hoped that would ward off cocci.
Hmm... from what I understand, medicated feed doesn't always work. If it were me, I'd treat her with Corid or Sulmet for a couple of days. The Sulmet is also an antibacterial and it might help even if it isn't cocci. Hope this helps! I know how hard it is to have a sick chicken and not know what to do or try. Good luck!
