Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Hello, I posted this over in a Poultry Congress thread however Littlecritters suggested I post it here as well.

"Hi Everyone, I was thinking of going to the show however didn't put in to be a vendor in time. Testing the waters here for interest. I have a few 8 week old CLs that I'm thinking of letting go of. Pullets due to lack of crest, young roos because I have a bunch. Also Rhodebars 8 weeks old. These are directly from GFF. Pls PM me if interested."

Tina, I got smart and bought a bunch of those hand and toe warmers.
I'll have them for sale at the show, but you guys don't have to pay.
Sunday is usually just awards, you won't miss anything, unless you are looking for a deal in the sales area.
Roberta,
Thank you regarding the warmers! Just wondering what the difference is between feather legged vs clean legged BCM's? I'm going to check my ABA book...but wonder if one is preferred for showing over the other?

I know a few that might be interested in the legbars.
But Greenfire doesn't have my vote, a friends entire flock became sick from birds that they shipped to her.
They claim (lied) to her because they knew their birds were carriers, and still took her money.
I hope you aren't having any health issues.

No, no troubles at all. I've read that as well and its very upsetting. The ones offered were sent as day old at the beginning of Nov. From what I understand there might be two cases now and these were from their juvi chicks sent. The other birds weren't the ccls but a different breed. I do hope they figure out whats going on.

The standard calls for feather legs. I don't think you'll find it, all the books were printed long before the Marans were accepted by the APA.
But, if you have an overly feather legged bird, you can breed the clean legged bird to even it out.
Or, use Sue's birds to get a darker egg color, and mix the legs up again.
The English standard calls for clean legs, we adopted the French standard.

Wow, I am shocked you know about it. I hope they finally admit to killing an entire flock, but for now, they claim no wrong.

I read about it very recently. I believe it was IC which has an incubation period of 1-3 days (as you probably know). I would love for them to have all their birds tested however doubt even if they do they would make this public. My other thought (with that short of an incubation period) is perhaps they shared the plane ride with those that were sick. I'm not saying that its not them, it could be and if it is it would be my sincerest hope that they do what they need to do to remedy it. I'm also thinking that it seems like they must send out many sets of juvi's each week. If it is GFF are other new owners just not reporting it? Perhaps they're treating it and not mentioning it? It definitely merits more investigation.....
