they know what's good for them.

Rosie,

I'm so very sorry to hear this. Were they able to remove the blockage? Have they tried other techniques, the "banana" surgery, as my vet calls it, is VERY expensive. They shouldn't even be considering it unless you have exhausted all other options. I'm telling you, my cat went through the exact same thing less than a year ago and we were beside ourselves. I knew I couldn't afford the surgery and thought we were going to have to put him down but we just kept plugging away with the natural remedies, the increased water and cranberry intake, the herbal calming meds...it eventually worked. He has since doubled in size (he was also very young, only 2, when he started blocking) and he hasn't had any more issues.

Look into your other options. Please be certain your vet isn't trying to bleed you.

God bless.

Yay! more eggies. BTW, my DH said almost all of the 34 quail that went into lock down hatched last night like popcorn!

I hatched out quail once and they were something to see! They were the size of bumble bees and they DID pop outta those tiny shells like a small explosion.

Have fun cause they sure are cute. Your daughter must be going crazy!

They used a catheter to unblock him, but it looks like he may have re-blocked immediately. I can't afford to spend the money, but I do have insurance, so they pay 90% but I have to lay it out first. We love the cat so much, I have to take a chance. I keep crying and crying, it's so horrible, and I'm just praying he peed last night. The vet hasn't called yet, and I'm hoping against hope. If he could just pee on his own, and give me a month to build up some more money it wouldn't hurt so much to lay it out when he does need the surgery. His bladder is loaded with crystals (Struvite), so odds are, he'll reblock no matter what. When he comes home, he's going to need special food for a month or two, then a special diet to maintain him for the rest of his life. He's so attached to my middle son, and my son to him, I can't not do it if I have to.

After the surgery, his chances of re-blocking would be very low. That's what I want for him, but like I said, if I could squeak another month...it would help so much.

I need sleep, and I can't manage it. Two nights now.

Rosie, I'm sending positive, healing thoughts and prayers for your dear kitty, and for your middle son right now. May a solution be found that eases things for your cat, so that you too can soon feel more at ease. It's so hard on us when one of our critters isn't well. I hear you about not sleeping easily. Sending you positive thoughts today.

I can't quote reply from my iPhone. Drats.

Rosie, keeping you in my thoughts. The surgery will no doubt alliviate most of the fear of reblocking. You've got to do what you've got to do. I hope that all works out and your kitty and family are all able to find some relief.

Hello everyone,
Things havereally been "off" lately. On Friday, I received some bad news. My friend who has a disabled daughter (like me), called to say that her daughter passed away that morning. I went to the service today and it was so terribly sad. On top of this sad event, I've had some incredibly hurtful chicken drama happening over on FaceBook. I am stunned at the way people behave and later this week, when I can think a bit clearer about it all, I will try to fill you in.

I'd like you all to know how much I appreciate this group of friends. I love that we all support each other and we welcome newcomers with open arms. So, I need to send you all a great big group hug!
Tina
I am so sorry to hear your bad news especially for your friend and her family. As a mother. The depth of their loss must be overwhelming. My prayers are with the family. I only know you from here Tina, but you have my friendship and support. Hope you come through your problems as well.
