I'm Suzanne and I'm in Huntington. This is a great bunch of chicken peeps!

(But of course we WILL need to see pictures of your chickens...)
Hi Suzanne! Go back a page! I posted some pictures a little bit earlier!

Well my RBLW is broody. Like I need this. One of my young polish also has an upper respiratory problem. Not having a good time.

Got some better pics of my little one yesterday. I'm very very new to the chicken world... but isn't that some interesting coloring on her? (Oh jeez, I REALLY hope it's a HER! lol)

Welcome, Wolfshadess! LOVE the dog in your avatar! :)

smkchick, Miss Pauline is such a trooper! May she settle in just fine as she gets through this hazing. I'm cheering her on!\

Rosie, I hope you and your family have a great time today at the dunk tank. Wishing you an enjoyable, sunny Sunday!

Baby Belgian Barbu d'Anvers really are so sweet!

Welcome Wolfshadess,

Congrats on your new career as a chicken keeper. I got my 5 in November and enjoy them everyday, even when I am cleaning the poop, the coop and the run. You found a great place here with the nicest people. I am sure that you are going to fit right in. I am in Laurel Hollow and also have a white dog....a boxer named Rocky, who will be 13 in October.

Once again welcome, pull up a chair and stay awhile

Rosie, Laura got a serious ear infection from the dunk tank at the Fireman's Fair, as did another two of her fellow FFs. Ear plugs!!!!

As a sort of a last minute thing, Bobby and I drove to Lambertville NJ to the Golden Nugget Flea Market. He went walking stick crazy, but I only got a couple of things. And a slight sunburn. It was a beautiful day to be out.

It's official, though. I HATE driving to NJ. We need to find a new flea market closer to home...

Everything seems okay with the girls. Pauline is keeping to herself in the run, and the other girls are free-ranging. The Jersey Girls came into the run and did a little chasing, but Pauline knows where to get away from them, so they gave up. They seem to have their routine established. Whew.

Looking forward to not working tomorrow. I'm going to have breakfast with my friend Kelly instead.
Squeeze some lemon juice into the ears for otitis media (middle ear infection). Let it sit then turn head over to drain it out. It dries up the funky stuff from the dunk tank water.

It's a scuba diver trick that works well. Learned that from my old SCUBA days. Ahhh...miss them now.

Walking sticks are great. I use mine to guide the chickens up to the tractor. They respect the stick and know that it means to head on up the way I want them to go. Pretty cool. Everyone gets a kick of how they go where I drive them.

Came home today from the weekend away. I was so stressed out leaving but lined up three different people to check the girls out. I added extra waterers and feeders to the two different coops and the pen in the basement. I was happy to hear daily from my babysitters. Came home to almost four dozen eggs on the table. Went to bed happy, went out to the coop this morning to check in and say hello to the girls. I was sad to see a ton of water in my back yard but I opened the coop door with some scratch and found my EE Pop dead at the door. I don't know what happened but I found Mary my ancona dead in the run as well. I screamed and John came outside and we are both sad. I don't know if they got into a fight and would kill each other. There are no holes or breaks in the shed. None of the sitters saw any bleeding or signs of stress . Last person checked on them Sunday evening. We got home at 3am. I just feel confused. I can't believe they would kill each other. I have never had any issues with pecking or missing feathers or anything.
