Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Very cute little girl. I had a golden comet named ginger. I named my first 3 girls after the girls in the claymation movie ChickenRun with the voice of Mel Gibson funny movie. There was also Mac and Babs.

Can't believe your having such problems with ticks. Hope he's feeling better

Well my tomatoes have blight; first time ever.i just want to scream.

My little polish is still making that weird coughing sound. None of the other girls are effected though.

Morning all,
Every morning I look at Craigslist free stuff and this morning someone in Hicksville is giving away a shiRt load of lumber . I recall someone on hear needing materials for a coop.sorry cant remember who. It's crazy the things people put to the curb.

Sallysec, how are your girls? I hope things are getting better.

Okay, so there was crowing in my henhouse this morning. I suspect the former Enid (now Ed). Which sux because one of the breeds I really wanted was an EE. Of course, he's gorgeous...

Anyone going to jersey anytime soon.
Mags where does your son live?
Chicken RR.
This sux, I'm sure Omega 3, my Salmon fav will be crowing anytime now. Was suppose to be a Pullet from ideal.

Oh No!! I just rehomed my silkie roo with a lady in my town. Go figure. I guess she doesn't care about the crowing. She only has 2 hens though, so if she gets caught, no problem. Now, if they caught me with my "6"....

I hope you find a good home for him!

Cheeky Chick, I'm wishing wellness for your son, may he heal well and quickly. Congratulations on your niece's wedding, such a lovely time of year for it, too. A grill is the perfect Father's Day gift, good choice!

We tried to go on the north fork hen house tour. We paid the $5, got the map and guide, and then... just kinda visited a farm we already knew about, saw the horrific condition the poor, overcrowded hens were in, and left in such sadness. But then, sitting in the car, my fiance peeked on Craigslist on his phone. We decided to drive out to Manorville to see the youngster pullets in an ad that had been there a few weeks or so. It turned out to be at a peaceful little petting zoo. There, in a clean, nicely-kept horse stall, and not too crowded, was a beautiful hatch of sweet, gentle young Golden Comets. (the same breed as our beloved Pru, who we had to humanely put down this spring due to a congential condition) They were about 11 weeks old,

and still peeping. They even had "baby faces." The kind, patient staff member was willing to stand quietly in the stall, to see which baby pullet would come up to her. (I wanted a calm, friendly girl) A curious, gentle little red cutie-pie approached her calmly, but with the usual bit of skittish caution of that age. I asked her to catch that pullet, and she brought her to me. I fell in LOVE!

She now lives in the bright, sunny, lush green organic vegetable garden during the day with 6 Barbu d'Anver chicks (new best buds!), and sleeps happily in a covered cat carrier in the livingroom at night, so that she and I may have time to lovingly form a family bond before she moves out to the baby-coop with the d'Anvers in about a week. She and I have snuggle time on my lap for a half hour each morning and evening. I just ordered 1,000 live mealworms off Ebay, as a Welcome Home gift for her.

Yep, that's her on my lap in the car the ride home! I just couldn't bear to put her in the cat carrier we'd brought! They were great

at the petting zoo, and we are so grateful to have her in our small flock and family!
Thanks Warmheart! He's feeling ok, though still a little lightheaded, and he's not even blond...(I am-

) But we have a doctors appointment so we'll check that out.

That's a lovely girl! My Golden comet (red production, red star...), Ducky is a great layer and is always the last one to go to bed-she waits up for me to come out and escort her into the coop to lock her up. I LOVE that girl! Yours is SO CUTE!!!

I have 2 pure Ameracaunas that I need to rehome. Figures they started crowing the day after the Sussex show. I think they will be swimming with some dumplings in a few days, need to contact the south American kid I used to work with. Too bad they are beautiful and came from nice blue eggs. Oh well.....
