Oh thank goodness it's pouring and cooled off a few degrees...I was thisclose to putting the chickens in the dog carrier and parking them in the air conditined kitchen until sunset!

Yes, it just stopped raining here-the thunder was incredible, and I looked outside and my girls were all out and still roaming around until the torrential downpours started. Whoever said they were chicken?

I'm trying to get inspired to pack for a few days at Indian Island. Somehow this heat has killed any energy I might have had.

The girls seem to be fine with the heat, digging themselves dirt holes under the enormous forsythia. The Poults are growing steadily, and will be coming on this camping trip too. They seem to like it, as long as they SEE me, they're good. Not at all like chickens.

No rain here. I even opened all the windows in my car and turned on the sprinklers. Nothing!
A friend who lives in nassau called me and asked if I was ok. I said "why?" she said "Look at the radar"

There was a RED and yellow cloud just from Pt Jeff to Rocky Point. Don't it jest figure?

It really was a glorious storm though. Now the sun is beaming and chickies are out and scratching.

Hey Roberta it was great to meet you and thanks for taking Blackie. Toast and Jelly are doing well. I couldn't remember the name of the Silkie so she is now Ditsy and doing well also. When I first introduced them I thought maybe they would give Nutmeg a run for her money but it seems she has exerted her superiority. So much so that she wouldn't let Jelly in the coop and wouldn't let Toast and Ditsy out. So yesterday I put her in the dog carrier in the run and left the others free ( in the run). This morning T J and D were very happy scratching in the run. I let Nutmeg stay in the dog carrier until early evening. Whatever I gave the girls I gave her but she stayed in the carrier. Tonight I had my cocktail with the girls and let Nutmeg out in pen too. I lifted all girls up to the roost at top of run and then Nutmeg flew up too ( I should have taken a picture but I didn't have a pocket to put my phone in-darn!) Nutmeg tried to exert her dominence again and I tapped her head and she looked very surprised. We did that a couple of times and then she calmed down. She was the first one to go into the coop, she always was one to go to bed early. So the girls are all sleeping together tonight. Yeah. I will keep you posted. Thanks again

Oh Pip, Silkies don't roost!
Well a few might be able to, but with the shredded wings they can't get any lift.
I have only one that can make it to the top and she scares the crap out of me whenever I do a head count at night when I lock them up.
Darla, Ditsy, same thing.
I worried about her all night, wondering if I let you have the wrong girl.
If she doesn't work out I have some Partridge color girls that I can trade her for.

Very nice meeting you too!
