I just found 2 nice big brown eggs in my girls nest. My Barny is laying such pretty speckled eggs now. They musta heard me complaining this morniong.

I hope it is as nice and warm for you all as it is here today. Last night it was a balmy 63 in my back yard. Amazing.........December???

I do not feel liole baking...........maybe tomorrow..........

Help needed!!!

I am having some problems with my landlord. They want me to remove all my hens. Is there anyone has space who can help me keep them for about 2 or 3 months? 4 of them are laying eggs everyday and 5 of them will start laying in Feb.

We almost bought a house in NJ with 1 acre of land, signed the contract, hired lawyer, did inspections, but couldn't close it because there is a major problem (failed septic system) with house and the seller wouldn't agree to fix it, so we had to let it go:-(. I was hoping by this time, we would move to the house and don't have to deal with the landlord. Now we are putting an offer on a different house, but it will still take 2 or 3 months to close. Please help me!!!

Vanessa, sorry to hear about the house troubles.
I'm sure someone here can help you out. I normally am the keeper of the outcasts, but my last babysitting job has gone from 2 weeks to over 3 months, and now that I am showing my birds, I really need to step up on biosecurity
Too bad you cancelled the deal over septic issues, they are pretty easy to fix.
You just need a good septic guy you can trust, and I have one. He is in my cell phone.
Not that I ever need him, but to refer him to others all the time.

There is no easy solutions regarding the failed septic system as there are only two ways: replace the septic system will be min. $15,000 or connect to the public sewer which will cost min. $12,000. We already offered higher price then we would prefer. There are also many other problems with the house as it is pretty old, but the seller wouldn't do any repairs. If we could, we wouldn't cancel it.

Hey, Maggie, feel better. I got ahead on some stuff, so I could stop now if I wanted. Really, I can stop any time I want! I have lots of cookies, but no dinner for the now 24 people who will be here at 3pm on Monday. Good thing I'm off tomorrow with nothing to do but clean the house, take the dog to the groomer, clean out the coop, wrap presents and go to the post office. I guess we could always get take out...

Come to think of it, silly tv sounds like a good idea.

Maggie you can have some eggs for sure. I have 5 really nice blue chicks too about 2 months old now with the biggest top knots. I am very proud of how far I came so far with the silkies. Let me know when you are ready. I brought 3 silkies to Palomine.org. What a great ganization. They gave me a tour of the place & where the girls will be living. Asked if I had any suggestions or concerns about the coop. Shows me that they are really dedicated to what they do. Met some of the kids too. They had trouble talking to me but couldnt wait to hold a silkie. Makes me really grateful for the healthy children (men) we have
