Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Now we're at the point of discussing windows before Bobby's eyes are even open. (He started it!)

I bought one of those heartbeat stuffed animals for Fiona, our deaf/demented kitty. Laura's going away for 5 days and we're concerned Fiona's gonna fall apart. It seems to work - Laura stayed at the boyfriend's last night and Fiona was quiet.

recuperating from a horrible stomach bug, yuckieeee!!!!!!!!! Hope you all enjoy this wonderful friday, there is so much to do around here and I don't have one ounce of energy to do any of it. UGH!

I'm here, just lurking. I always get sick this time of year, after hearing everyone else is.....
Getting ready for the show in Delaware next week. More stressed out about if the husband will survive it, and whether he will forget to feed somebody.
Also p'ed that updates are all because of aol. I am not happy about the new stuff to begin with, I am supposed to change my computer to optimize the site, and now I am supposed to open a different e-mail account for updates?
Nope. Not gonna happen. I love BYC, but I am not changing for it.
I hope all you upstaters are getting the beautiful weather we have been getting here on LI. Makes me want to call in sick every day!

Sounds like we have an epidemic going on here. Hope you are feeling better today. Have no fear about the AOL problems. At least not yet. I had mentioned the problem to Rob, the site owner. He was the one that thought it was AOL that caused the problem. I emailed support at AOL and they got back to me with instructions for BYC to get the emails to not be blocked, or whatever it is that causes them not to show up. We should know soon enough if this works. AOL has always been a pain with email deliveries from certain email accounts. If they want to keep customers, then they will have to fix those issues. We've been getting the same nice weather. Today is a little cloudy, but warm enough to be outside in a T-shirt. Hang in there, Roberta. Feel better.

Glad you're feeling better. Too many of the group have been sick this past week. Tackle the projects one at a time when you feel good enough to handle them. It'll all get done in time.

Sorry to hear so many of the group are under the weather.

I took a spite day this week. Not sick, just using some of the sick time I'll lose when I get laid off again. Last week it was Wednesday. This week Thursday. Maybe I'll work the whole week next week just to confuse them!

Honestly, I hate calling in because of the kids, but this year the little buggers are so disrespectful, sometimes I need a break from them!

My arm/shoulder is still painful, but it's nice to be out of the sling and able to move more. Bobby framed out the roof today. I'm going to build a couple of nesting boxes tomorrow I think. After PT and a pedicure with Laura. Bobby's actually working for a friend (how dare he!!)

Guess what my grade-level life cycle creature is this year? (Wait for it) MEALWORMS. Live, slimy, crawly ones. bleh. I don't mind the freeze dried ones coz they look like plastic, but seriously, live worms? For second graders? I see catastrophe looming!

I brought some of the creepy crawlies home (mealworms, not students) for the girls. Boy, was I popular.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Since my son Adam left for college in2006 I have been taking care of his bearded dragon "Bruce Lee" He's as old as dirt. I buy extra meal worms and crickets for the chickens when I'm shopping for him. Boy do the girls love them. They are fun to watch with the little creatures.

That hawk cam is great.

Everybody I know has had that stomach virus. Stay hydrated folks

OK I need help. Up at 530 and started hearing a strange sound outside. Home alone my husband is in Boston visiting my son. It just so happened to be one of the Buff laced polish I thought was a pullet. NO HE IS NOT... Man it's hard to tell with them. My luck I gave away all the girls that I raised this winter.Anyone want him he is gorgeous?Anyone know of anyone that would want him? I know the one neighbor across the street will call the town come Monday. He confronted me last summer about calling the town on him for having 10 grocery carts in the yard. At one point they were piled high like lawn art.I didn't call the town I went up to the store and asked them to come get them. He came onto my propery one night looking to talk to my husband about why I was sooo mean to him .When my husband wouldn't come to the door he refused to leave. I went crazy to say the least (the words coming out my mouth were as if I was possessed by a drunken Irish sailor) . The guy is 6'5'' When he finally did leave an hour later the cops knocked on my door telling me he called them because I was harrassing him.The house has been a thorne in my side for a long time.. The land lord is a piece of ... He rented the place to a drug rehab center about 2 years ago.Two people have already been found dead in there from overdoses. I call the cops ever other week. I had absulutely no say with the town as to him renting it to them..SORRY I'm on a rant Thanks for letting me vent Carol(not a typist)

Carol, I'd love to help, but I can't have roos and am already freaking out about how noisy my girls are.

If you're not over the limit and haven't violated the town code in any way with your chickens, he can call the town all he wants. My guess is they will see him as more of a nuisance than your chickens. Also, the cops are probably more sympathetic to a few chickens than corpses piling up in the house across the street.

Can you keep the roo indoors until you find a home for him? And if the guy across the street comes knocking while your husband is away, don't answer. He sounds a little unbalanced.

Thanks I'm just freaking; He's away till Wed. and I don't need any more craziness then I already have.I don't think I can keep him inside. I think I'm going to bring him to my husbands clinic ( he's a vet) boy will his partner and his wife love that. They already think I'm the weirdest person they have ever met.Keep your fingers crossed for me...
