Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Thank you all for being tolerant of my attempts at creative writing. Welcome to my world, this stuff goes like non-stop in my head.

The two chicks are doing well - here's a picture:

Tiana and Baby Chipmunk

Love the lil fluffy booties on her toes! She was making a nest in the shavings, I'm going to take that as a sign that she's a she and not a rooster.

She is so cute!

Those babies are adorable. I confess to wearing Grampa McCoy overalls several like ten years ago, but I stopped. It was handy not to get twigs and stuff down my clothes, but the fasteners for the straps gave out. And even my most tolerant son fervently hoped I would not be spotted in that get up...but the barn boots are awesome.

Wow, I didn't realize the size difference. Would of sent a bigger chick!

Yes but the coloring matches perfect! I think that's the best, they really love each other and seem to enjoy grooming each other. Don't worry, they get along like gangbusters. We are so glad to have Baby Chipmunk with us.

As you can see in my id photo, I have no problems wearing overalls in public. Ok, in my backyard. I don't think I'd wear them to pick up the girls at preschool.... yet. I'm not quite that embarrassing. Or rather, they are not old enough to be embarrassed by me yet. I agree, barn boots are necessary for winter & spring or you are just tracking mud everywhere.

Wow. I don't check in for a day and look what happens!

Heather, I loved the story. And the pictures of the babies made me get all weepy. Too sweet for words.

Karen, I obsess about the incubator temp all the time. I must check it 20 times a day!

Al, us crazy chicken ladies will miss seeing you on May 19th. So glad there's a farmers' market there too. My kind of weekend trip.

And now for the big news: We found a kitten. He's only 6 weeks old, and a feral rescue, so the foster mom is keeping him for another 2 weeks to finish the socialization process. He spits and hisses when you reach to pick him up, but doesn't bite or scratch. In fact, he cuddled right up to Laura and fell asleep in her arms.

Baby Brutus:
