Ahhhh, coming from someone that may have a few roos of her own in a week!

I have the rooster room all made up! In fact, I may keep them down in the "man cave" with Bobby.

I candled the eggs last night. 2 of the 3 in the second batch are no goes. But I realized that when I take out the turner for the first batch, I'll have to hand turn the other one for 3 days til it's ready to be left alone. Do you think the extra humidity I need for the first batch will affect that one for the 3 days it's behind?

If I had thought about it, I would have waited to get the replacement eggs so I could hatch them in a separate hatch.

So right now I have 5 viable eggs, all of which look good. God willing, it'll be 2 roos and 3 hens. hahahaha.

Guess I'll have to take next week off to turn the egg.

We get all worried about temp and humidity, do you think a broody hen has all that junk under her?
She gets up to eat and poop, the temp drops. It rains, humidity goes up. They hatch.
I wouldn't stress over it.

Excellent point. I didn't worry this much over giving birth to Laura!

Wow. I don't check in for a day and look what happens!

Heather, I loved the story. And the pictures of the babies made me get all weepy. Too sweet for words.

Karen, I obsess about the incubator temp all the time. I must check it 20 times a day!

Al, us crazy chicken ladies will miss seeing you on May 19th. So glad there's a farmers' market there too. My kind of weekend trip.

And now for the big news: We found a kitten. He's only 6 weeks old, and a feral rescue, so the foster mom is keeping him for another 2 weeks to finish the socialization process. He spits and hisses when you reach to pick him up, but doesn't bite or scratch. In fact, he cuddled right up to Laura and fell asleep in her arms.

Baby Brutus:

Awww! Love the new kitty!
