Oh, and I grew up allergic to all this grass, pollen, mold stuff.
About 15 yrs ago we moved out west, and I had good health ins., went thru years of shots.
I thought I was cured. Moved back here. Then I started getting symptoms again.
Found out I'm allergic to PARROTS.
I often wonder if my RA could be caused by chicken allergies.
Yikes. Drs say no. I dunno about this one....

My tree pollen allergies haven't been too bad (yet), but Bobby's been suffering terribly. We think he's allergic to cedar, which is what's growing in the backyard and what he's been cutting to side the coop with.

Oh yeah, and he's allergic to cats.

Cedar has an aromatic oil that irritates the respiratory systems in animals, which is why we aren't supposed to use it in the cages and coops. That's why it repels moths and such.

I was just wondering this morning if people get allergies to chickens. Is it a good pet for a child that is allergic to cats and dogs?

I know that feather dust can irritate people, I don't know if it is different between parrots and chickens.
My Eclectus are one breed of parrot that have the least amount of dust, their feathers are actually a little different than most birds.

I'm sorry, did you say feather dust? Is that like fairy dust for chicken fairy godmothers?

I haven't been sleeping well. Actually, I thought I had a heart attack a few weeks ago, Must be job stress related.
Looking forward to the stress my husband puts me thru after Friday, supposed to be my last day.
Maybe I can clean all the chick poop out of the rugs. But he wouldn't notice anyway.
Went to Dr. yesterday, chest x-ray came back "normal". Hmmm normal for someone that lost her father at the same age from a heart attack?
And he didn't smoke. Or drink. Oh well....

Stress can cause several heart attack mimicking conditions (gastritis, costochondritis, tietze's) in addition to actual heart related stuff. They better have done an EKG and a pile of blood work to rule out a heart attack before telling you not to worry. If you, or anyone on here needs someone to give your healthcare provider hell over anything, you let me know. It is not always the Dr.s fault, the pressures that the system has put on them to process a high number of patients is extraordinary, but sometimes they need to be reminded that patients are people that need to know for sure that they are really ok (or not).

In the mean time, feel better and do what you can to reduce your stress.
