Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I'll have to pass on next weekend. We are meeting my son at MGM Foxwoods. Their staying and I'm going to come home the same day for the dog and the girls. And for the sake of our bank accounts.....

They are orpingtons and Ameraucana, both are friendly breeds
I guess it's just that there are a bunch of them so they don't get
handled as much.
My 6 eggs are due to hatch tomorrow and I can't stop
looking at them thro the window of the incubator. I want to candle
them to see if they are still alive but I know I'm not supposed to
open the bator. I always worry during lockdown that they arnt going
to hatch. It stresses me but when the start to hatch its all worth it.

We have 10 chicks that are now five weeks old in a living room brooder. They are Buff Orpingtons, Wyandottes and Aracaunas. They have been "screamers" like yours until just the last few days. The Orps have been the nicest, but I have been wondering if the others have influenced their behavior. We also have 4 younger silkies in the house that are the sweetest, most cuddly balls of fluff. The silkies are with 2 polish chicks. Such a night and day difference between the two brooders.

About the zoo, let me call tomorrow and see if I can set it up. There is a fern sale that day that I sort of wanted to do but eh, I have planted enough things already. If this Sat doesn't work, what about the 23rd?

Also I may have found a home for Chipmunk. I put up a listing on Freecycle and a few people responded, including someone who wants him as a solo pet. She may check out this list - hee hee, more chicken converts anyone?

Happy Birthday Karen!

Wow, I am away from the thread for a day and return to find 13 pages of posts! No rats that I know of, but I caught a possum in my livetrap last night. I released it down back a bit. Saw that sly ole fox again this evening. I think he is teasing me. He just lops across my lawn while looking in my general direction. He might find I have a surprise for him pretty soon. I just applied for my NJ FID.

Timing is everything! I was just telling my wife, and she thought it was a great idea. For us, a Sunday is the best because she works on Saturday and it is tough to get a day off. We would really love to come and meet everyone.

I just read tonight where a motion activated water sprayer and those night predator lights work really well.
