Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Had a bad night sleep, the phone woke me at 8am
My 6 , day old, well I guess 2 or 3 days old,
arrived this morning. All seem healthy and active
eating away ,grow gel with chick starter sprinkled
on top. Showed them all the water. They are in a
different brooder than the other chicks, who are
chirping loudly to them. 14 chicks in my bedroom.
now. Ugh.
AND I have some pips !!!
Will post pics later. Letting them settle down
Can't get good pics with the red heat lamp on

Oh well. It appears my rare marans chick is
a golden cuckoo. That's what's hatching today!
Darn. Lololol. At least it's a girl. Not feather legged
though the ones I'm hatching should be. I was
hoping for a Splash or a white.

Hi Heather, are you from Huntington, LI? It's a tough district. I am going to look this story up now.

Did you all read about the supposed "zombie" in Florida? That is the grossest story I've ever heard.

Sorry about my rant about my neighbor a few pages back. She's a nice lady just never sure how to read her.
No, I'm from snooty Westchester. :p

I wore your Bird Nerd shirt to preschool drop-off this morning and got so many compliments! Definitely a big hit. Someone said they're going to buy one for their dad for Father's Day.

Heather, They told me at TSC that the way to trap a fox is raw meat in the trap. I don't think dog food will do it. I lost a hen to fox and we have seen a lot of them in this area this year. I investigated and talked to a lot of people, and think we are now down two foxes. One I saw had been hit on Rt 20 close to our road. I didn't even have a moment of sadness for it. Get a nice cheap cut of meat, and slap it in that trap...good you have a plan for after it is trapped. Good luck.
I will try that next. I sprinkled the dog food all around the trap. I also put one of J. Lo's ping pong eggs right outside the trap. I'm guessing I'll catch the possum or raccoon that lives around here first. I'm enamored with the foxes, I think they're beautiful but not if they're hanging around the same time my children are.

Cute chicks! I have great news, that boy Pierce Crowley was found today, a police officer spotted him in Washington Heights, he's ok! Whew!

What the heck was he doing in WASHINGTON HEIGHTS? My husband covers a firehouse there-NOT a good area. I'd hate to see an adult lost there-let alone a kid! Well, thank goodness he's ok, and his parents will probably sleep tonight for the first time since he left the hospital.
