Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Hey crafty people! This is a soft-boiled egg cover I received as a present. I think it was knitted, but I imagine it'd be even easier to do in crochet. Can anyone make a few more for me? I'll pay you for them. My husband and youngest love soft-boiled eggs, it's fun to have a cozee for them.

Here's another view:

Oh and of course, no takers for the fox trap. I don't think anything has even tried to nibble on the dog food other than the puppy when she goes out the front door. The good news is I haven't seen the fox either, maybe I scared it off. As long as it sticks to picking off squirrels and leaves my feathered and real girls alone I can coexist.

anybody going to the show in massachusetts this weekend?
I'd love to but alas alone with the girls and I doubt their idea of fun coincides with driving 3hrs to look at chickens, lol. Get some pictures for us! Did you see those Jacobian collar pigeons from the NJ fair? How does that breed see or eat?! So neat looking.

Have fun!

Thanks!! It was a great game, and the song brought tears to my eyes. I love the song, and the kids did a great job. The ducks also won, I believe 16-5 over The Revolution so the whole day was very enjoyable.

Hope everyone had a great day!!

My Lavinia, that's an awfully big comb for you to have! (Hatched 5/1) For comparison, here are Lavinia and Lola together. Lola hatched 4/11. Both Orpingtons. Lavinia is Leon, isn't she? Meanwhile, back at the brooder, the babies are getting real feathers!
Maybe not, 2 of my 3-week old orps have combs bigger than that and they protect the other chicks when I stick my hand in the brooder. They stand in front of the others and give me the stink eye. Either that or all 4 of mine are Roos cause none of them have small combs like your Lola.

Good morning all; Well I had a great day yesterday. I went up to Foxwoods/MGM and spent the day with my son . He took the train down from Boston.I hadn't seen him since Christmas. We had a BLAST... I pretty much broke even. Actually every time I won I'd give him the slip to gamble with. He works his butt off as a part time teacher and lives below the poverty level so he doesn't want to spend a dime.

Coning home from Orient Point I saw the largest bull frog trying to cross the road. For a minute I thought I was upstate again.Hopefully he made it.I don't think I have ever seen one on the roads down here.
All the chick pics look great. That's it instead of a chick flick we can make a chick pic Could be our money maker.

Everyone has to check out the pictures on the naked neck/turken thread of the way a guy received chicks in the mail It blew my mind..

The show is today, I am going to play it by ear, but if its raining like they say it is, I am not going. I had a pair of Jacobins a few months ago and sold them, but they truly are a beautiful bird. Ever since I hatched my Ohikis and Phoenixs last month, I haven't been able to browse BYC like I used to, but I do still check this one every so often. Where was the fair in NJ? I go to Hoboken about twice a month, but other than that, I never make it down. I love Jacobins, they really don't have trouble doing any tasks since the feathers don't block the face. If I go, there will be pictures!

Thank you !!
Every morning when i open the coop door, my broody cochin runs out for about 15 minutes to stretch/eat/poo. So I quickly replaced the 6 infertile eggs she was hoarding...... with 6 of my new shipped eggs. Not a problem for her! She went right back after her breakfast and sat right on them. I think I'll add 2 more tomorrow cause she is a large girl and can likely sit on more easily enough.
Then when everything hatches out....I'll slip any of those that hatch in the bator under her as well. This should be interesting!
