Ohhh....we should talk! LOLTwo beautiful 6 draw singers went for $20 each. sounds like we collect alot of the same thing. I own 2 working featherweights and all kind of sewing related things. There was also a nice milk glass hen on a nest but it had been repaired (really bad job).I'll have to post pictures all the things cleaned up nicely
I want my polish hen back in a terrible way.here is a little chicken "cheer" for you all to see...one if our babies crowing at 5 weeks old..

Oh suzanne, I agree with Al 100%! I think this is a great idea. Follow your heart, I think this is where the universe is putting you.One door closes, another one opens. We don't know how or why our paths are put before us, but there is opportunity if you allow yourself to see where you are being guided.
Suzanne, It appears you are a person who wants to serve others. By moving forward with this, you will be doing just that. Good luck, and get crackin'.
So jealous of your harvest! I have a couple of tomatoes ripening and a lot of cucumber flowers, but for some reason the zucchini is rotting on the plant. Out of 5, 3 have rotted before being big enough to harvest. Ideas?Aw, that is an adorable crow! Sort of reminds me of Peter Pan when they are all trying to crow. Now see Chipmunk hasn't even started crowing yet, and he's around 2 months or 8 weeks old. But I do think it's a he, just has to be based on the comb and the saddle of feathers. If he is a rooster he is the biggest Weenie of a rooster ever.
We had a long weekend, but I did end up hooking up a $20 fan in the coop which they were promptly all afraid of. I also put a metal catering pan out with ice water and herbs in it a la Tilly's Nest and they not only refused to go in it, I think they pooped in it. I have such low class chickens. ;-) Next time you all trek up to Danbury stop by Harrison and say HI! I didn't know you were coming this way, I might have tried to join you. I can't imagine dragging my husband to that sort of thing plus he would stop me from buying the really cool stuff, but I will come along next time you all go.
On the plus side the puppy is kinda getting better at herding and really helped me get them into the coop for bedtime tonight without scaring them too much. I need to work with someone that actually knows what they are doing re: herding lessons as telling her in English, "No, go that way!" and shoving her in the butt is not really a plan for success.
We harvested a bunch of purple potatoes already thanks to the puppy deciding to play tug of war with the potato stems, but they are really super cool! We got all these and this is just from one potato that I let sprout and then diced up. There's also one scarlet carrot and a few red beets in there too. I'm a believer in planting veggies of weird colors as it gets the kids excited. They had a good time digging for the taters in the dirt with their hands anyway, but they were so purple and cool it made it extra special I think.

Good morning George I've never seen such a thing . But I'm only at this for 3+ years. Have you posted it on any other thread? Good luck and keep us posted. One of my 4-month old White Leghorn pullets has started sprouting this growth on her beak. It's made of beak material, and her beak and nostrils are otherwise properly formed.
Has anyone else experienced these odd growths on their chickens?
Other than making her look like the wicked witch with a wart on her nose, do folks here think I have any cause for concern?
Thanks,
George
